Synopsis:
HAZE and SILK meet when Haze is gay bashed by a group of male models he had worked with. Their chemistry becomes clear to everyone from the get go and they both find out they share much more than just sexual attraction; Haze is a successful fashion consultant who has lived a celibate and pure life, while Silk and a talented consultant who has seen it all.
Silk’s looks, intelligent and tender nature has Haze going crazy and doing things he never thought he could do to the point of loosing who he is.
This doesn’t go down well with ALEX who is willing to do anything to have Haze has his partner, he even attempt to pay Silk off after all his other attempts to separate them fail.
Haze and Silk deal with their attraction, Alex schemes and insults and their friends issues mostly ERIC who gets thrown out by his parents when they find out he’s gay.
Haze moves to save Alex’ agency when three former models sue Alex for sexual harassment. Touched by this Alex finally leaves them alone.
As their love and friendship grow they desire more and more to stay together, this leads them start a clothing label that kick of immediately after they get a spread on Elle magazine.
FADE IN:
1. EXT. SAFARI RESTAURANT DRIVEWAY NIGHT.
HAZE walks to his car from the restaurant; he’s on the phone with ETHAN.
ETHAN (O.S.)
(Filtered.)
Europe is great. Get a life Haze.
HAZE
I just had dinner at my favorite restaurant.
ETHAN (O.S.)
So what?
HAZE
This is my life.
FOUR GUYS IN MASKS surround Haze from in the car rows.
HAZE
Ethan, I’m gonna have to call you back.
Haze hangs up and looks at the guys trying not to show the fear gripping him. He looks back at the restaurant; it’s business as usual no one has noticed.
HAZE
(Shaking voice.)
Can I help you?
GUY#1
The guy from Versace show…
HAZE
You know me?
One guy faces him. Haze moves back, but hits the guy on his back.
GUY#2
Are you gay?
HAZE
What is it to you?
GUY#2
Tonight we are beating the homosexuality out of you; fag.
HAZE
Yeah.
The guy punches haze. Haze punches back.
They attack Haze to the ground.
SILK steps out of the restaurant. When the guys see him they take off.
Silk walks to the opposite direction, but stops when Haze groans.
Silk cautiously walks to Haze and stands two steps away. Under the light he can see Haze soaked in blood.
SILK
Are you okay?
Haze groans. Silk moves closer and squats to look at Haze.
SILK
Oh my God!
Silk removes his sweater and helps Haze lay his head on it.
SILK
Hang in there I will get help.
Silk runs back to the restaurant.
SILK (O.S.)
Call nine one, one somebody has been attacked.
2. INT. HOSPITAL ROOM DAY
Haze lies on the bed with a bandage on his forehead. The door opens and Silk stands at the doorway.
SILK
Hi, may I come in?
HAZE
You are already in.
Silk closes the door and walks to the bed.
HAZE
You must be Silk; you saved my life.
SILK
Somebody had to do it.
HAZE
(smiling)
And that somebody had to be you?
Silk smiles back at Haze.
SILK
It’s good to see you smile after all you went through last night.
HAZE
Except for my rearranged face.
SILK
(Smiling.)
You will get back to your cute self, soon.
Haze blushes.
Silk removes Haze phone from his pocket.
SILK
I picked your phone under a car after the ambulance had left. Alex called.
HAZE
And!
SILK
I told him what happened, he’s on his way.
HAZE
Oh God!
SILK
Is there a problem?
HAZE
Alex is the last person I would have wanted to know I’m in the hospital. I will just have to put up with him.
SILK
Sorry…did you see who attacked you?
HAZE
They were four guys in masks; they called me the guy from the Versace Show.
SILK
The Versace Show!
ALEX bursts in carrying a bunch of flowers.
ALEX
Haze, who did this to you? Some guy had your phone, he told me you were attacked last night.
HAZE
I’m fine Alex.
ALEX
(Placing the flowers on the table.)
Who did this to you?
HAZE
They were four guys in masks… Alex this is Silk; he saved my life.
ALEX
Hi.
SILK

SILK
Haze I have to go. I will see you in the evening.
HAZE
Thank you for saving my life Silk.
Silk gives Haze a reassuring look and walks out.
ALEX
He’s cute and all.
HAZE
You had to notice that.
Alex sits on the bed facing Haze.
ALEX
Have you told your family?
HAZE
I will call them later; right now I need to rest.
ALEX

HAZE
Thank you, but I will call them.
ALEX
Haze, you need help and I’m here to help you get back to your beautiful self that I adore.
Alex takes Haze phone from the side table and dials.
3. EXT. HOSPITAL DRIVEWAY SUNSET
Alex drives and Haze rides shotgun. Silk stands by Haze’ window.
HAZE
I don’t know how to thank you enough Silk.
SILK
You are welcome.
HAZE
Take care of yourself.
SILK
I was about to say the same thing.
HAZE
I hope all goes well with you.
SILK
Yeah. Bye.
HAZE
Bye.
Alex starts the car and they speed off. Silk watches the car for a while then walks away.
4. INT. CONDO LIVING ROOM NIGHT
Haze and LINDSEY sit on the couch in a beautifully decorated room- Haze style.
LINDSEY
I have nothing to worry about; Alex is taking care of you.
HAZE
You have to spend the night.
LINDSEY
No way.
HAZE
(Whispers.)
You can’t leave alone me with him; not when I’m this vulnerable.
LINDSEY
Okay.
Alex steps in from the kitchen.
ALEX
Dinner is ready.
LINDSEY
I’m spending the night.
HAZE
I’m fine Lindsey; I have Alex taking good care of me.
LINDSEY
This is not about you. I had some painting job in my kitchen, you know about my allergies.
HAZE
Okay. Let’s go eat.
5. INT. CONDO LIVING ROOM DAY
Haze, Alex and Lindsey sit on the couch. Haze talks on the phone.
HAZE
I will be waiting.
Haze hangs up.
HAZE
Silk’s on his way.
Haze smiles.
LINDSEY
Can’t wait to meet him.
ALEX
You can use a friend Haze.
Haze looks at Lindsey then turns to Alex.
HAZE
That’s what I have you and Lindsey for.
ALEX
I mean someone closer…like… you know…
HAZE
Let’s not go there Alex.
ALEX
Are you saying that there’s no place for a partner in your life, completely?
HAZE
I don’t know what you mean by a partner but my perspective of things is very different.
LINDSEY
And being different makes you really cool.
ALEX
What if a guy likes you and will do anything for you, would you give them a chance?
HAZE

There is a knock on the door.
LINDSEY
I will get it.
Lindsey walks to the door and opens. Silk stands outside
LINDSEY
Hi, you must be Silk. Come on in.
Silk steps in the room.
HAZE
That was fast.
SILK
There was no much traffic.
Silk walks to the couch and sits beside Haze.
HAZE
You’ve met my friend Lindsey.
LINDSEY
Can I get you something to drink?
SILK
A glass of water will do; I’m dehydrated.
Lindsey exits to the kitchen.
SILK
You seem to be doing all right.
HAZE
With this gang taking care of me I’m bound to be great. How’s the going?
SILK

Lindsey returns with a glass of water, hands it to silk and sits.
SILK

HAZE
What did you do today?
SILK
I went to church, and prayed for you.
Haze looks at Silk and smiles. He smiles back.
HAZE
You look great.
SILK
(Looking around.)
Thanks. I love your place; it’s heavenly. I would spend eternity here.
HAZE
Believe me you would get bored.
ALEX
So, Silk, what do you do with yourself?
SILK
I’m looking for a job.
HAZE
He’s new in town.
LINDSEY
You will love New York.
SILK
(Looking at Haze.)

Haze phone rings and he picks it.
HAZE
Hi mum (pause) I’m doing fine (pause) I have friends over (pause) you won’t make it! (pause)
(MORE.)
HAZE (CONT’D)
What is wrong with dad? (pause) how is he? (pause) I will be fine (pause) can I talk to him? (pause) I’m all right (pause) Say hello to him. I will call him.
Haze hangs up, angrily drops the phone on the couch and gets up.
LINDSEY:
What is it Haze?
HAZE
It’s dad.
Haze walks out.
Silk gets up.
ALEX
You don’t want to go after him when he’s like that.
Silk looks at Alex then goes after Haze.
6. INT. HAZE BEDROOM DAY
Haze sits on the bed face cast down and tears running down his cheeks. Silk sits beside him.
SILK
Will you look at me? Please.
Haze slowly looks up. Silk opens his arms and cuddles Haze.
SILK
Now tell me, what’s wrong with your dad?
Haze looks at Silk for a while.
HAZE
My dad’s diabetic. His blood sugar got out of control and he had to be hospitalized.
SILK
How is he now?
HAZE
Mum says he’s ok, but stressed over what happened to me.
SILK
We’ll pray for him. Okay?
Haze nods yes. Haze and Silk hold hands
SILK
Let’s pray…
AFTER the prayer, Silk looks at Haze for a while.
SILK
You will get through this.
HAZE
You’ve met me in my worst days.
SILK
In your best days we would not have met.
Alex stands at the doorway and quietly watches them.
HAZE
You are fascinating
Haze and Silk gaze into each other for a while.
HAZE
Can I show you around the city?
SILK
I would love that.
ALEX
Mm! Mm! May be another day. You heard what the doctor said. You need to rest.
SILK
We can do it another day. You need to rest.
HAZE

SILK

Silk gets up.
HAZE

Silk and Alex walk out. Haze lies down and closes his eyes with a smile on his face.
7. INT. CONDO KITCHEN DAY
Haze places two glasses on the kitchen counter and walks to the fridge. Silk sits at the counter.
Haze gets a packet of apple juice.
SILK
(Looking around.)
You have an amazing sense of style.
HAZE
I’m stylist.
SILK
But your place…
HAZE
That’s mum.
Haze pours the juice in the glasses.
They each pick a glass of juice each and walk to:
8. INT. CONDO LIVING ROOM DAY
Haze and Silk sit on different sofas.
HAZE
You will be glad to know my dad’s doing well; they will let him go home tomorrow
SILK
Tough times don’t last…
HAZE

SILK

HAZE

Silk walks to the entertainment unit and picks Haze’ family portrait: Haze’ DAD, MUM, brother Ethan and best friend MARIO.
SILK

HAZE
We look pretty happy, but don’t let it fool you.
SILK

He looks familiar. Like someone I’ve seen in a magazine or somewhere.
HAZE

Haze gets up.

Haze walks in carrying his guitar.

LINDSEY
Its days like these I wish I wasn’t a make up artist and I didn’t have to work with all those stupid models.
HAZE
There is left over chicken in the fridge?
LINDSEY

HAZE

Haze and Silk walk out. Lindsey throws her purse on the couch and walks in the:
9. INT. CONDO KITCHEN DAY
Lindsey washes the dishes in the sink. Alex walks in looking rather bored.
ALEX
Hi.
LINDSEY
You look bored.
ALEX
My life sucks sometimes. Have you seen Haze?
He moves to the counter and sits.
LINDSEY
Out, with Silk.
ALEX
What! He’s supposed to be resting?
LINDSEY
To be resting or to be around you?
ALEX
I don’t know what you are talking about.
LINDSEY
You’ve seen the way they look at each other.
ALEX
I won’t discuss this with you.
LINDSEY
So there is something to discuss?
ALEX
Silk is no threat to me; he’s way out of my league.
LINDSEY

ALEX

Alex gets up and walks out.
10. EXT. PARK SUNSET
Haze and Silk watch the sun set from a bench. Haze has his guitar in the arms
HAZE
Back at home I used to sit in the patio and watch the sunset almost every evening.
SILK
At what part do you play the guitar?
HAZE
You want to hear me play?
SILK
Why did you bring it?
HAZE
It’s my greatest companion.
SILK
But I’m with you now.
Haze looks at him and smiles. He positions the guitar in his arm and strums the chords twice.
He plays a piece from John Denver song ‘Whispering Jesse’. He stops and looks at silk.
SILK
That was beautiful. How long have you been playing?
HAZE
Since I was ten.
He clears his throat.
HAZE
Heaven: sunshine on my skin on a cold morning,
Heaven: rose petals caressing my body,
Heaven: the smell of spring and the beautiful melodies, Heaven: a twinkle in your beautiful dark eyes,
Heaven: dancing in your arms to Shania,
Heaven: so close to feel your heartbeat,

Heaven: a whispered poem,
Heaven: a kiss, a fantasy, a love note.
SILK
(Softly.)
You put it perfectly; it was beautiful…you play a guitar; write poems…
HAZE
I can’t sit down and write a poem, but once in a while words will flow through my mind when I’m inspired.
SILK

HAZE

Silk looks at Haze and smiles shyly.
SILK
Yesterday when I came to see you, I wasn’t so much worried about you; I knew you were fine. I had to see you.
HAZE

Haze smiles and plays the guitar…
11. INT. CONDO LIVING ROOM NIGHT
Alex lies on the couch still bored. Haze steps in through the front door carrying the guitar.
ALEX
Look who’s supposed to be resting.
HAZE:
I’m doing that.
Haze heads for the kitchen.
ALEX
By running around with Silk?
Haze stops halfway across the room.
HAZE
Do you have a problem Alex?
ALEX
I’m taking care of you.
HAZE
Not anymore. I can take care of myself now. Thanks for everything anyway.
Alex gets up and faces Haze.
ALEX
Aren’t you the ungrateful one?
HAZE
I knew it would boil down to this. Go ahead; say whatever you have to say.
ALEX
I make your meals, run your bathe water, make sure you take your drugs on time and this how you repay me?
HAZE
I won’t change my mind about you Alex. I told you once and I’m telling you again. We are friends and that’s it.
ALEX
You are a user and a bitch! All that talk about Jesus and faith is all crap. You are a hypocrite.
Haze walks to the door and holds it open.
ALEX
What goes around comes around.
HAZE
Whatever!
Alex walks out and Haze slams the door. He walks to the couch and sits with tears showing in his eyes.
There is a knock on the door.
Haze walks to the door and opens. Lindsey stands outside.
HAZE

LINDSEY
My! What did I do?
Haze lets her in and closes the door.
HAZE
I’m sorry. I thought it was…
LINDSEY
Alex, I saw him drive off.
They walk to the couch and sit.
LINDSEY
You had a fight.
HAZE
His scheme didn’t work on me. When will that guy realize I’m not into him?
LINDSEY
He believes if he persists you will give in.
HAZE

LINDSEY

Haze opens his front door and PAUL staggers in.
PAUL

Haze closes the door.
PAUL
Time for you to go to bed. I came to see how you are doing. Alex told me you were attacked.
HAZE
Alex should also have told you that I’m fine.
PAUL:

Paul walks to the couch and drops himself on it. Haze stands behind the couch.
HAZE
You are drunk.
PAUL
I had a couple of drinks wit the guys.
HAZE
Keep it up and you will end up like them, jobless.
PAUL

13. INT. PUB NIGHT
Paul, QUINTON and JOSH have drinks at the bar. Quinton has a black eye.
JOSH
How is Haze doing?
PAUL

QUINTON
Does he know the guys who attacked him?
PAUL
We didn’t talk about that. What happened to the agency you were to visit today?
QUINTON
You know how it goes they have to call the former agency and Alex has nothing better to say about us.
PAUL

14. INT. CONDO KITCHEN DAY
Haze and ERIC take hot chocolate as Haze types on his laptop at the kitchen counter.
ERIC
I just graduated high school Haze when I decide what I want to do I will tell you. You know there is no hurry with these things.
HAZE
Ok.
Silk walks in.
SILK
Hi guys, the front door was open.
ERIC
That was me.
HAZE
Eric this is Silk, Silk, Eric.
SILK

Silk takes a seat beside Haze.
ERIC
Haze told me what you did for him
SILK
I did it for some guy; it so happens that guy is Haze.
Silk looks at Haze and smiles.
Eric walks to the stove, pours hot chocolate in a mug and gives it to Silk.
ERIC
What do you do Silk?
SILK
I design clothes.
Haze gives him a you-are-unbelievable look.
SILK
You never asked.
ERIC
I have to go, see you later Silk.
SILK
I came to invite Haze for dinner; you can join us.
ERIC
I would love to, but I already got plans.
HAZE
Be good.
ERIC
As always.
Eric walks out.
SILK
Haze, you are a successful fashion consultant and stylist and that kinder intimidates me.
HAZE
I will look at your designs to night and tell you what I think.
SILK

HAZE

Silk stares at haze as he types.

15. INT. CONDO LIVING ROOM NIGHT
Haze and Alex walk to the couch from the front door.
HAZE
I didn’t think I would see you here again.
ALEX
I’m sorry about the other night. I didn’t mean what I said.
HAZE
(Sitting.)
To tell you the truth Alex I want nothing to do with you.
Alex stands before Haze.
ALEX
So I can’t invite you to a party.
HAZE

HAZE

ALEX

HAZE

ALEX

HAZE

Haze gets up to walk to his room, but stops.

Alex walks out.
16. INT. HALLWAY NIGHT
Alex stands in the hallway for a minute looking agitated.
ALEX

He walks away.
17. INT. SILK’S APARTMENT NIGHT
Haze and Silk enjoy dinner at the kitchen counter.
SILK
Did you always know that you gonna be a successful?
HAZE
I don’t think about success, I do what I love and it pays off. Soon you will experience the joy of doing what you love if your designs are half as cute as you are.
SILK
I’m not cute.
HAZE
You should know I have all night to argue with you.
SILK
Finding a job here is harder than I thought.
HAZE

Silk looks at Haze.

Do you marvel at how things happen at times? One minute I’m calling nine one, one to save your fine ass and now here I am dinning with you.

HAZE
(Placing the book on the table.)
I will have to carry it to my place; right now I don’t concentrate. I don’t mix business with pleasure.
Haze gives Silk a lovey-dovey look.

(Getting up.)

18. INT. GROCERIES STORE DAY
Silk pushes the shopping trolley and Haze picks the groceries. They stop at the honey shelf.
HAZE
Do you like honey?
SILK

HAZE
Honey is good for you. African honey is the best.
SILK:

HAZE
Last summer I was at the Maasai Mara in Kenya; it’s beautiful.
SILK
Honey or the Maasai Mara?
HAZE
Both.
Haze takes Silk’s cap and puts it on. He then picks a jar of honey and places it in the trolley.
HAZE
We need apple juice, grape juice and Cooley if you want.
SILK
I will have to check my wallet first.
HAZE
When you come to my place tonight you won’t have to worry about your wallet for a very long time.
Silk looks at Haze smiles.
HAZE
That came out wrong.
SILK

Haze looks at Silk a little ashamed.
19. INT. CONDO LIVING ROOM EVENING
Haze tidies up the place as he listens to India Arie’s ‘Brown skin’.
There is a knock on the door.
HAZE
Come in.
Silk steps in wearing a sexy sleeveless shirt.
SILK
Hi.
Haze looks at him without a word.
SILK

HAZE
I love your shirt.
Silk removes the shirt and throws it to Silk.
SILK
You can have it, but I will need something to wear.
Haze throws the shirt back to Silk.
HAZE

Haze sits and picks his laptop from the table. Silk puts the shirt on and sits next to Haze.

So many people want to buy them even the guys at Tru Worths, but I wanted to hear from you first.
SILK

HAZE

I wish my face would look a bit older, people think I’m some dude they can mess around with.

Haze faces changes to sadness.
