NYTimes.com passes: educaTioN RaTe - The New York Times

 passes: Education Rate

GENERAL INFORMATION

Passes serve a pre-selected number of users per day. Unlike Group Subscriptions, you do not specify the individuals who are entitled to access. Instead, you purchase the number of passes that you anticipate will be needed each day. Passes are claimed on a first-come-first-served basis, and each pass provides 24 hours of access for one user to and the NYTimes apps.*

Which kind of Passes should I order?

Choose Academic Passes if you want users to be able to claim passes from any location, on or off campus. Users qualify by having a valid e-mail address with your school's domain. Users activate a pass by visiting AcademicPass. Read more by visiting our Academic Passes FAQ.

Choose Group Passes if you want users to claim passes only when they are in your school building or on campus. Group Passes generally cannot be claimed from off-campus locations; although once claimed, the user can access and the provided apps from any location during their 24-hour pass. Users activate a pass by visiting GroupPass.

Users of Passes must register for (or already have) an account. Registration for an account is free and open to users at least 13 years of age.

If all of your school's passes have been claimed at a certain moment, the user will get a message to try again soon. Users will cycle off their 24-hour access period at varying times, opening up new passes.

Note on archive access: All Pass users receive access to past New York Times articles, including five free articles from 1923 through 1986 for their 24 hours of access. Pass users have unlimited access to past articles outside the 1923?1986 date range during their 24 hours of access.
