Chapter 13: The Renaissance

You will be completing 3 assignments for Chapter 13. You must complete two 50 point assignments and one 100 point assignment.

This assignment will be worth 200 points, and will count as your semester final for this course. The assignments are all due on or before the end of class on Thursday, December 19.

You will be given participation points on the work days. If you are on task, you will receive full points. If not, you will lose points.

Crossword Puzzle

-50 point assignment

Using any crossword building website on the internet, you will need to create crossword puzzle with the answers to the hints being people of the Renaissance and Reformation. You will need to provide the blank crossword with accurate hints, as well as a answer key.

Each of the 25 people you choose must be from the time period and relevant to the topics of the chapter.

You will earn 2 points for each person on your crossword.

Failure to provide a blank sheet of the crossword or the answer key will result in a 50% reduction of the score.

This is a level 1 (50 point) assignment.

No rubric needed.

Board Game

-50 point assignment

-You will pretend to be a board game manufacturer, and you have been assigned the task of creating a board game that will help students review Chapter 13, The Renaissance in

a fun and interesting way! The purpose and theme of the game must somehow relate to the Renaissance.

You must address information from each of the 4 main topics of Chapter 13: The Italian Renaissance, The Northern Renaissance, The Reformation, and the Scientific Revolution.

You may use an existing board game that you own and add or change it, or you may create your own board game using file folder and markers/color pencils. It should be neat, creative, and include instructions for 2+ players. If you create your own, you must use color on the actual game board.

There should be at least 25 questions pertaining to the Renaissance. All 4 main themes above should be addressed. Directions must be included and be easy to follow. Neatness, grammar, spelling, and correctness all count. Please see attached rubric.

Interview Assignment

-100 Point Assignment

- You will create transcripts for two fictional interviews with famous figures from the Renaissance period. You may pick any two people who were important to the Renaissance in terms of art, religion, politics, or the scientific revolution.

- The interview should consist of a series of questions for the person being interviewed asked by you. The questions should be followed by answers the famous figure may have given to your question. You should have at least 8 questions for each person.

-You must use interview form when writing the transcript of the interview. It may be typed or NEATLY handwritten.

- You must provide a brief introduction before the interview stating who is being interviewed, where the interview is taking place, and the purpose of the interview.

-The interview must be written in everyday language, or vernacular. It should sound just like two people casually talking. It should not read like a textbook or encyclopedia.

-You should use correct spelling and grammar.

-Each interview is worth 50 points. They will be graded separately based on the rubric provided below.

Description of the Timeline Project for Chapter 13; Renaissance and Reformation.

You will need to identify 10 major significant events from the following categories that occurred during the Renaissance and Reformation period; arts, sciences, writers/philosophers, religion, and nations/governments. The events that you deem significant must be related the time period and the topics.

Once you have determined each event and the category they are related to, you will place them on a timeline that is color-coded based on each category. Each category has a designated color. All of the events will be on the same timeline, but in different colors according to its category. Look on the rubric for the color of each topic category.
