This master specification section has been prepared by American PERMALIGHT Inc. for use in the preparation of a New York City Local Law 141 project specification section covering PERMALIGHT photoluminescent egress path markings specifically labeled per NYC LL141 requirements, including photoluminescent aluminum strips, aluminum stair nosing, aluminum nosing for freshly poured concrete, photoluminescent polyester tape, photoluminescent/contrast black obstacle markings, photoluminescent exit and emergency exit symbol signage, photoluminescent push bar markings, photoluminescent door handle markings, and photoluminescent floor identification signs.

American PERMALIGHT Inc. also offers Section 05 5500 - Photoluminescent Metal Stair Treads specifically for freshly poured concrete and Nosing for existing Stair Treads.

American PERMALIGHT Inc. also offers Section 26 5313 - Photoluminescent UL924-listed Exit Signs for specifying photoluminescent high location and floor proximity exit signs, even though these are typically NOT allowed in New York City.

B. Egress Path Marking Types with NYC code-required Labeling:

The following is suited for the leading edge of landings and step edges by embedding into freshly poured concrete and steel pan steps.

1. 90-degree angled aluminum stair nosing FOR POURED CONCRETE + STEEL PAN STEPS with photoluminescent anti-slip aluminum insert and black anti-slip insert, 2-5/8 inches deep x 0.5 inch nose front x custom extruded length that matches the on-site step width.

The following are suited for the leading edge of landings and step edges.

2. 90-degree angled aluminum stair nosing with photoluminescent anti-slip aluminum insert and black anti-slip insert, 2-5/8 inches deep x 1-1/8 inch nose front x 48 inches standard length. Custom extruded lengths available to match on-site step widths.

3. Photoluminescent aluminum strip as Step Nosing marking, with foamy adhesive backing, [1 inch x 48 inches long.] [2 inches x 48 inches long.]

The following is suited for handrail markings and wall-mounted perimeter demarcation lines.

4. Photoluminescent Handrail Tape NYC (identical with Wall-mounted Perimeter Demarcation Line-/ Exit Door Frame/ Push Bar Tape) [1 inch x 82 foot roll.] [1 inch x 164 foot roll.]

The following are suited for wall-mounted perimeter demarcation lines. Wall-mounted Perimeter demarcation lines are preferred over floor-mounted markings.

The following are suited for floor-mounted perimeter demarcation lines. Floor-mounted Perimeter demarcation lines are exposed to higher wear and tear due to foot-traffic, cleaning solutions, scrubbing machines. Therefore Wall-mounted is the preferred method.

8. Photoluminescent aluminum strip as floor- and wall mounted perimeter demarcation line, with foamy adhesive backing, [1 inch x 48 inches long.] [2 inches x 48 inches long.]

The following are suited for obstacle marking.

Clean substrate surfaces of dust, dirt, oil, grease, and loose matter that could impair adhesion.
