ASSISTANT PROJECT OFFICER-NUTRITION

Concern South Sudan is an international humanitarian NGO working in South Sudan since 1998. It is dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries through the provision of health & nutrition, shelter, WASH and livelihood activities in the three States of South Sudan.

Concern South Sudan is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position Assistant Project Officer –Nutrition to be based in Nyamlel Aweil West County, Northern Bahr El Ghazal State.

Job summary: -

The primary role of the Assistant Project Officer-Nutrition is to support the planning, implementation and monitoring of all CMAM activities within Concern’s broader health and nutrition programme in assigned areas Aweil West or Aweil North.

The APO - Nutrition is expected to contribute to the broader outcomes of the nutrition team by ensuring quality programming of the Ministry of Health endorsed CMAM program in assigned areas by ensuring that all CMAM procedures are done according to design and follow the South Sudan protocols and guidelines

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Responsible for the quality implementation of the CMAM Program (OTP, TSFP for both PLW and children under five years, BSFP and SC) in the assigned area.

2. Ensure that the community understand the importance of treating acute malnutrition, proper utilization of CMAM supplies and the importance of their full involvement in the management of acute malnutrition.

3. Ensure that all CMAM processes and procedures are conducted in the right way.

4. Participate in the training and mentoring of nutrition program staff with in the assigned area.

5. Manage all program staff in assigned area.

6. Ensure that reliable records are kept at health facility level and CWW office.

7. Offer health education to beneficiaries on other nutrition topics which complement the CMAM program.

8. Participate in training HHPs in conducting MUAC screening.

9. Supervise day to day OTP/TSFP activities in the assigned area.

10. Monitor food utilization and storage.

11. Compile the following;

• Monthly supplies request

• Monthly plan of all CMAM activities in the assigned area.

• Prepare and submit bi-weekly or monthly program tally sheets.

• Form 4 - food distribution report.

12. Participate in CWW county level meetings as required.

13. Perform any other duties as required by Concern Health and Nutrition Programme.

Requirements:

• Senior secondary certificate with passes in Mathematics and English

• Good communication in English, Arabic and the local language

• Sound knowledge on the management of acute malnutrition

• Previous experience in CMAM work (TSFP, OTP and SC) is an added advantage

• Ability to meet deadlines

• Able to work with communities

• Valid motor cycle driving license and ability to ride a motorbike

• Fluency in written and spoken English and local languages

• Commitment to and understanding of Concern Worldwide’ aims, values and principles

The position holder will adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Concern Code of Conduct and Programme Participant Protection Policy.

As part of the Concern P4 responsibility the position holder will

• Support and promote the standards outlined in the P4 and the Concern Code of Conduct to their team, partner organisations and beneficiaries, and be committed to providing a safe working environment. And

• Contribute to the establishment of preventive measures to reduce the potential for abuse in Concern programme.
