Comprehensive Czech visa guide[1]

1. Short term visa up to 90 days („C“)

General requirements

1. The applicant must apply for Schengen visa in person during the interview.

2. Passport valid for more than 3 months from the date of the validity of visa. Present a clear photocopy of your passport (page 33, identification page)

3.One passport photo to be glued (not stapled) to the application form.

4.Application form for Schengen visa (it has to be filled in legibly by either typing or writing in block letters to the individual boxes exactly and according to the rules). Application form (free of charge) can be also downloaded from mfa.cz/visaform or filled up in 602.cz/mzv/.

5. For tourist journey - original form of voucher of the travel agency and hotel reservation and one photocopy of it.

6.Confirmation about the financial situation of the applicant (bank statements, copies of credit/debit cards etc.) - originals and photocopies.

7.Return air ticket (reservation air sticker) - original and one photocopy.

8.Travel health insurance for the whole period of stay on the territory of the Schengen states - original and one photocopy.

9. Visa fee (application processing fee) in calculated according to the current exchange rate – 60 Euro. In case that the visa is refused, the fee is not refunded.

10. Embassy of the Czech Republic recommends the applicants to apply for a visa in sufficient time before the date of departure. In general it takes 12 working days to process a visa application provided all required documents have been submitted. In case submitted documents need to be verified, the processing time might take up to 4 weeks depending on the individual case.

Documents and other evidence concerning your financial resources:

convertible currency, traveler’s cheques, bankbook (passbook) and/or

(if applicable) a copy of the legalized letter of guarantee that you submitted with your visa application, copies of evidence of your guarantor's income and the travel medical insurance.

B) Documents and other evidence to substantiate the purpose of your visit:

if you intend to visit friends or relatives, a copy of the legalized letter of invitation;

if you intend to stay in a hotel, a hotel reservation or evidence that you have paid the bill in advance;

if you intend to visit on business, documents showing the nature of your business (quotations, bills, contracts, etc.);

if you intend to undergo medical treatment, documents showing that you intend to visit the Netherlands for medical reasons (a letter from the hospital where you are to be treated, evidence that you are medically insured, evidence that you have paid for the treatment, or evidence that you can afford the treatment);

if you are an artist intending to perform in the Netherlands, a valid work permit (if required) and documents stating the precise places, times, and durations of your performances.

Short-term visa for business purposes

1. The applicant must apply for Schengen visa in person during the interview.

5.Invitation from business partner on official form or previous correspondence and photocopy ot it. Documents showing the nature of your business (quotations, bills, contracts, etc.)

Travelers sponsored by company - original and copy of Certificate of Incorporation, Income Tax Clearance, Bank statement of account.

7.Return air ticket (reservation air sticker) - original and one photocopy.

8.Travel health insurance for the whole period of stay on the territory of the Schengen states - original and one photocopy.

9. Visa fee (application processing fee) in calculated according to the current exchange rate – 60 Euro. In case that the visa is refused, the fee is not refunded.

1. The applicant must apply for Schengen visa IN PERSON during the interview

2. Passport valid for more than 3 months from the date of the validity of visa. Present a clear photocopy of your passport (page 33, identification page)

3.One passport photo to be glued (not stapled) to the application form.

4.Application form for Schengen visa (it has to be filled in legibly by either typing or writing in block letters to the individual boxes exactly and according to the rule). Application form (free of charge) can be also downloaded from mfa.cz/visaform or filled up in 602.cz/mzv/.

5. Official invitation letter from organizers of the conference - not PDF copy.

6. Receipt of payment of conference fees and conference hotel reservation. originals and photocopies.

7.Confirmation about the financial situation of the applicant (bank statements, copies of credit/debit cards etc.) originals and photocopies.

8.Return air ticket (reservation air sticker) original and one photocopy.

9.Travel health insurance for the whole period of stay on the territory of the Schengen states. original and one photocopy.

Long-term visa („D“)

Long-term visa for business purposes

1. The applicant must apply for Czech visa in person during the interview.

2. Passport valid for more than 3 months from the date of the validity of visa. Present a clear photocopy of your passport (page 33, identification page)

3. Two passport photo, one to be glued (not stapled) to the application form.

4. Application form for Schengen/Czech visa (it has to be filled in legibly by either typing or writing in block letters to the individual boxes exactly and according to the rules). Application form (free of charge) can be also downloaded from mfa.cz/visaform or filled up in 602.cz/mzv/.

5.Confirmation about the financial situation of the applicant (bank statements, copies of credit/debit cards etc.) - originals and photocopies. Preferable account in the Czech currency or one in foreign currency (USD, EURO, GPB) with minimum equivalent 7.000 USD.

6. Business registration from Czech local authorities.

7. Legalized documents in respect of seat of the company and accommodation of visa applicant (confirmation of lodging, copy of agreement of tenancy etc.).

8. Police Character Certificate of Nigeria, legalized by Ministry of Foreign Affaires of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, superlegalized by the Embassy of the Czech republic in Abuja with legalized translation into Czech language.

9. Police Character Certificate of the Czech Republic. The Czech Embassy can provide the form and execution.

10.Travel health insurance for the whole period of stay on the territory of the Schengen states - original and one photocopy.

11. Visa fee (application processing fee) in calculated according to the current exchange rate – 2.500 CZK. In case that the visa is refused, the fee is not refunded.

12. Visa procedures last approximately four months form the day of handing in the application and the decision about visa is made in the Czech Republic.

13. In some cases appointments should be done.

Long-term visa for study purposes

The applicant must apply for student visas in person and has to undergo an interview.

Visa is generally issued for 1 year (extension of validity is possible). Passport must be valid more than 3 months from the final date of validity visa.

Requirements:

1. Application form for Czech visa (must be filled in legibly a completely in block letters). Application form for visas are also available either at he Embassy or on the Internet website mfa.cz/visaform/ or filled up on 602.cz/mzv/

2. One passport size photo - must be glued (not stapled) within the marked square of the application form and two other photos enclosed to it.

3. Documents proving the financial situation and sponsoring the study (legalized and translated into Czech) and if applicable a document proving payment for the course or semester before applying for the visa.

4. Documents confirming the purpose of stay in the Czech Republic: a letter of admission and a letter of accommodation and other ones.

5. Health insurance for the whole period of stay on the territory of the Czech Republic

6. Criminal record (casier judiciaire) from the country of the permanent stay and from the Czech Republic (a form provides Embassy) – legalized and translated in Czech language.

Visa procedures last approximately two months form the day of handing in the application and the decision about visa is made in the Czech Republic.

Other documents for validation of studies by Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic:

- birth certificate – legalized by Ministry of Foreign Affaires of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, superlegalized by the Czech Embassy in Abuja and traduced to Czech language.

- documents proving termination of the secondary or university degree
