THE NIGERIAN ASSOCIATION OF CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE,

CONDITIONS TO BE FULFILLED BY CHAMBERS IN OTHER TO BE

ADMITTED AS MEMBERS OF NACCIMA

1. The Chamber should be formed by minimum of ten (10) Executive Members.

2. It must have a minimum of 80 Subscription-paying members.

3. The Chamber must be incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as a Company Limited by Guarantee.

4. It must have an Independent and well-equipped Secretariat (Computer, Internet Facility, Scanner etc.).

5. It must have at least 4 full time members of staff on its employment roll as follows:

a) An Administrative Secretary, preferably a graduate or an HND Holder

b) An Assistant Secretary with a minimum of Diploma

c) A Confidential Secretary or an experienced Typist

d) A Dispatch Clerk/Rider.

6. The Chamber should conduct Annual General Meetings regularly and elect or re-elect Officers in accordance with the provisions of their Bye-Laws.

7. It must hold Council Meetings and where necessary extra-ordinary meetings to brief

members of the activities of the Chamber.

8. It should design and run programme that will meet the needs of members.

9. It should relate regularly with the infrastructure provider agencies such as PHCN, NITEL and Water Corporation and hold regular consultations with agency heads for the improvement of their services.

10. It should relate appropriately with State and Local Governments where necessary on behalf of members.

11. To liaise regularly with the NACCIMA Secretariat to source information that is necessary for dissemination to its members.

12. To also network regularly with other Chambers, Bi-lateral Chambers, Business/Professional Associations in Nigeria.

13. To report on activities of the Chamber to the NACCIMA National Secretariat.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR ADMISSION OF BI-LATERAL CHAMBERS

INTO ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP OF NACCIMA

For a Bi-Lateral Chamber to be fully admitted into an Associate Membership Status of NACCIMA, the following conditions must be fulfilled.

1. The Nigerian Chapter of the Chamber’s Bi-lateral Relationship should be with a specified country and not with a group of countries or a region or a continent.

2. Membership of the Nigerian Chapter of the Bi-lateral Chamber should have at least 100 subscription-paying members who have existing business interest in the other country. The list of members with their addresses and business lines should be forwarded to NACCIMA and should be updated regularly.

3. The Nigerian Chapter of the Bi-lateral Chamber should be duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission as a Company Limited by Guarantee. A photocopy of the Memorandum and Articles of Association should be forwarded to the NACCIMA.

4. The NACCIMA and the country’s Embassy/High Commission in Nigeria should have been formally notified of the existence of the Bi-lateral Chamber.

5. The objectives of the Bi-lateral Chamber should such as will enhance Bi-lateral trade flows between the two countries.

6. Election of members of the Governing Council shall be conducted in a democratic manner.

7. The Bi-lateral Chamber should maintain a well-equipped Secretariat of its own.

8. There should be at least four paid members of Staff headed by a Graduate of Higher Institution or an experienced non-graduate, an Accounts clerk/Typist, Despatch Clerk and PRO/Membership Recruitment Officer.

9. Upon receipt of the documents and fulfillment of the other requirements, Officials from the NACCIMA Secretariat will visit the Office of the Bi-lateral Chamber to assess the level of available human and material resources and report on same.

10. A formal letter of admission to Associate Membership will be issued upon clearance of the report on the Bi-lateral Chamber and upon payment of Two Years’ Subscription Fees and other charges as may be advised by NACCIMA.

BI-LATER-CHAMBER MEMBERSHIP FINANCIAL REQUIREMENT

1. Non-refundable Application Fee - N=20,000.00

2. Two Years’ Subscription Deposit (N112,500 per annum) - N225,000.00

3. Development Fee - N100,000.00
