TEMPORARY RESIDENCE VISA FOR NATIONALS OF MERCOSUL, BOLÍVIA AND CHILE

The Decree 6.975/09 enables nationals of MERCOSUL, Bolivia and Chile, and their dependants, regardless of nationalities, to apply for a residence permit to live in Brazil.  This residence permit, called “Residência Temporária”, is a temporary visa for two years, subsequently transformed into a permanent one. Applicants must lodge their application in person.

Within 30 days of arrival in Brazil, bearers of these types of visas must register with the Brazilian Immigration authorities (The Federal Police Department-DPMAF) and submit a copy of the visa application form, provided to them by this Embassy upon collection of the visa. The form will be stapled to a page of the passport to avoid it being misplaced.

Required documents (Please bring the documents below with a complete set of ordinary photocopies to the visa section of this Consulate)

1. Applicant’s passport, valid for no less than 6 months, with at least two blank pages. Please note that pages reserved for amendments cannot be used for visa purposes. Soiled, damaged or defaced passports will not be accepted;

2. Birth certificate and proof of civil status, and certificate of nationalization or naturalization, if applicable (please bear in mind that these documents have to be duly legalized by the Brazilian Diplomatic Mission in the countries where they were issued). Fee of AED 80,00 per legalization of document, if applicable;

3. Original Certificate of no Criminal Conviction from country of origin, or from the countries where you have lived, is required. The Certificate of no Criminal Conviction from the different countries will have to be duly legalized by the respective Brazilian Diplomatic Missions in those countries. This Certificate is required from applicants of 18 years of age or above. Fee of AED 80,00 per legalization of document;

4. Declaration done in a Notary or at the Embassy or Consulate of the applicant´s nationality stating that the applicant has no international criminal convictions (applicable to those of 18 years of age or above);

5. Visa Application Form (one per applicant) must be filled in at . Fill in the form. Click "SEND" to receive your processing number and receipt. Print the receipt. Attach one passport-size photograph (please do not staple the photo; glue it, if possible). Sign the receipt. For minors (under 18 years), the receipt must be signed by both parents. When filling in the application form it is very important to state your parents’ full names, as it is in your birth, or marriage, certificate. If deceased, their full names will still be required.

Applicants intending to travel accompanied by spouses and children

1. Passport for each member of the family;

2. Online application form filled in for each member of the family;

3. Original Certificate of No Criminal Conviction, plus Declaration of No International Criminal Conviction/s, done in a Notary/Embassy/Consulate for those of 18 years of age and above.(Certificate/s coming from different countries will have to be duly legalized by the Brazilian Diplomatic Representations in those countries);

4. Original marriage certificate (for spouse dependant) or birth certificates (for children), duly legalized by this Embassy, if issued in the UAE. If issued by another country, they will have to be legalized by our diplomatic representation in that country. Fee of AED 80,00 per legalization of document.

When the couple is not legally married (e.g. partners), the respective dependant’s visa must be applied for in Brazil, through the Brazilian Federal Police, (with offices at the airports) once the holder of the authorized visa is duly registered as a temporary resident in the country (for this purpose, a Certificate of No Criminal Conviction, plus a Declaration of No International Criminal Conviction, duly legalized by the respective Brazilian diplomatic mission where they were  issued will be required in Brazil. Fee of AED 80,00 per legalization of document, is applicable. This procedure also applies to bearers of Civil Partnership Certificates.

VISA CLEARANCE

Some nationalities require prior approval from the Brazilian Department of Immigration in order to obtain a visa, among them: Afghan, Iranian, Iraqi, Jordanian, Lebanese, Libyan, Nepalese, Nigerian, Palestinian, Pakistani, Senegalese, Syrian and North Korean citizens.
