Try the swfa web page right here, they host our conversation.As far as caps, the ones made by Vortex are probably the best, certainly better than Butler Creek. There is also another brand, Bushwhacker, see if they still exist.The Vortex caps are very good and durable, but they are also thicker and take more space and may get in the way of your bolt if the scope is mounted low, and the rifle has a bolt. I tried using a Vortex cap on a Winchester just this morning, it was a no go. Wwith a Butler Creek, i had no problem. Among Butler Creek caps, the ones with a yellow tab are a bit better, the ones with a red tab are pretty much disposable. I've also seen good caps supplied by Nikon. I also found that caps with a flip tab, like the Butler Cree, are not very good. They open too easily and too often, and they fall off or break. I take that back actually, now that I think about it, I think the deal is, a "P-223" like you have, the "P" stands for ProStaff line, and Nikon doesn't include them with ProStaff scopes ( I have 3, they all came with little covers that have a string to connect them.) ... now the Monarch series, and the M lines like "M-308" scopes, are Monarch-level, they are included. I have a Monarch from late 2012 on my Remington 700, it came with pop-up scope covers. But they're NOT Butler Creek and they're not the highest quality. But they're free right? Hey. You might try Nikon and see if they'll send you some, try telling them it came with some but they broke. ? I've used them on bolt action deer rifles for..............(more years than I want to say!) ? I bought them and really do not like them. They don't fit well (too 'deep' in to the optic such that they interfere with the operation of the device), either too loose or tight no matter how well you fit them, just clumsy to keep on the optic and to use. They might be worth having on those (potentially) rare times when you are out hunting in the rain or very damp so that you only flip them up when you need the optic. Other than that, use nothing when you are out. And either cover the scope when transporting or storing or never at all. B ? I like either the Blizzard or Bushwhacker covers. I have both on several rifles They are "see thru" and have the 2 tabs, that when rotated are easy to pop with your fingers while holding the rifle as you aim. They work for their intended purpose. Too many times when out hunting, I have fouled the lenses of my scopes either from rain, snow, mud or debris from bushes and what not. They are the best I've found but I don't like having flip up caps regardless of who makes them. They interfere with your hat, hands or come into contact with something when hunting......but they do help keeping the scope lens clean, so I use them.
