LIFT TRUCK INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PURPOSE/SCOPE:

The objective is to ensure that lift trucks are properly inspected and maintained to ensure the safety of operators and other affected personnel.

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS REQUIRED:

Nissan Lift Truck #1

Nissan Lift Truck #2

Operator’s Daily Lift Truck Checklists

Operator’s Manuals (located in pockets on lift trucks)

RESPONSIBILITY:

Designated mill worker trained and certified in lift truck operation.

AREA:

This procedure applies to propane-powered lift trucks.

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:

A Circle Check shall be performed daily on each propane-powered lift truck by a trained and certified operator, using the Operator’s Daily Lift Truck Checklist. Forms are available in the Control Room.

Report any problems to supervisor immediately. If supervisor is not available, lift truck shall be taken out of service by having the keys removed until the problem is resolved.

When completed, sign the checklist and put it in the designated file in the Control Room.

Before a lift truck is put back into service following repairs or maintenance, the supervisor shall sign and date the Operator’s Daily Lift Truck Checklist to confirm that the lift truck is safe for use.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Certification in Safe Operation of a Lift Truck and Propane Cylinder Handling – Industrial Equipment

POWER CART INSPECTION PROCEDURE

The objective is to ensure that the manually operated power cart is properly inspected and maintained to ensure the safety of operators and other affected personnel.

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS REQUIRED:

Manually operated power cart

Operator’s Daily Manual Power Cart Checklist

Operator’s Manual (located in Manual Power Cart Checklist file in Control Room)

RESPONSIBILITY:

Designated mill worker trained and certified in lift truck operation.
