MBOS Registration Help

Registering for MBOS

You can register for MBOS in three easy steps. STEP ONE -- Set up Your MBOS Account On the Division of Pensions and BeneIts home page, click the button "Register" located in the Access myNewJersey section.

Be sure to select whether you are an Active Member or a Retiree; You will need both your Social Security number and your pension Member ID Number or Retirement Number.

When all of the information has been entered click the "Submit" button and the myNewJersey Account Page will open. STEP TWO -- Sign-On to, or Create, Your myNewJersey Account On the myNewJersey Account Page, indicate if you have an existing myNewJersey account. If you already have a myNewJersey account, click "Yes" and enter your myNewJersey Log On ID and Password where indicated on the myNewJersey Account Page.

If you do not have a myNewJersey account, you must create one. Click "No" and enter all of the information requested on the myNewJersey Account Page.

Be sure to select a Log On ID and Password that is easy to remember!

Passwords must be at least 6 characters long and chosen from at least two of these groups: lowercase letters, uppercase letters, digits, and other characters (except space, quotes and \).

Note: Forgotten Log On IDs and Passwords are the most common problem members have when using MBOS. Be sure that you can remember your Log On ID and Password for future use.

When done, click the button at the bottom of the form page and proceed to Step Three.

STEP THREE -- Start Using MBOS

Once you successfully create, or link to, your myNewJersey account your "MBOS Home Page" will open. From the MBOS Home Page you can access the MBOS Applications that are currently available to active or retired members.

Where do I Find My Fund Code?

As part of the MBOS registration process for employees, you must enter your Retirement System's code number, or "Fund Code."

Retirement System Fund Codes used in MBOS are as follows:

01 - Teachers' Pension and Annuity Fund (TPAF) 02 - Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) 03 - Police and Firemen's Retirement System (PFRS) 06 - Judicial Retirement System (JRS) 08 - State Police Retirement System (SPRS)

How To Enter Fund Code and Pension Membership Number

As part of the MBOS registration process for employees, you must enter your Pension Membership Number. You can often Ind your Membership Number printed on your payroll check statement. It is also printed on other forms and correspondence sent to you by the Division of Pensions and BeneIts such as your Personal BeneIt Statements. Your Human Resources Representative can also provide it to you.

The Pension Membership Number is 8 or 9 digits in length divided into two sections.

The Irst 2 digits represent the Fund: 01 TPAF; 02 PERS; 03 PFRS; 06 JRS; and 08 SPRS. The Inal 6 or 7 digits are your membership number.

The Inal 6 or 7 digits are your membership number. When registering for MBOS, Irst make sure you select the "member" option to access the active employee registration form.

Enter your Irst and last name, then use the drop-down box to select the name of your pension fund, then enter the remaining 6 or 7 digits of your Membership Number into the second box.

How To Enter Fund Code and Retirement Number

As part of the MBOS registration process for retirees, you must enter your Retirement Number. You can Ind your Retirement Number printed on your pension check statement. Your Retirement Number is also printed on other forms and correspondence sent to you by the Division of Pensions and BeneIts after your retirement is processed. The Retirement Number on your statement is 10 digits in length divided into three sections.

The Irst 2 digits represent the Fund: 01 TPAF; 02 PERS; 03 PFRS; 06 JRS; and 08 SPRS. The middle 2 digits represent a Code for the type of retirement; The Inal 6 digits are your Retirement Number.

When registering for MBOS, Irst make sure you select the "retiree" option to access the retiree registration form.

Enter your Irst and last name, then use the drop-down box to select the name of your pension fund, then enter the middle 2 digits for the code into the box that appears to the right of the fund selection, and Inally enter the remaining six digits of your Retirement Number into the third box.

How do I Return to MBOS after I Register?

After you are registered with MBOS and myNewJersey, following these instructions to Log On to myNewJersey and access your MBOS Home Page.

1. Go to the Division of Pensions and BeneIts website and click the link "Login" at the top right. 2. The myNewJersey "Log On Page" will open.

3. Enter your myNewJersey Log On ID and Password. Then click the "Log On" button. Your myNewJersey Home Page will open.
