SMT Minutes
January 13, 2014
Members present: David Armstrong, Rosemarie Cerrone, Bridgett Florczak, Aaron Gulko, Tashun Jefferson, Tamica Jones, Elaine Meredith, Rose Morrisroe, Veronica Torrenegra, Denise White, Patrick Yearwood
I. Greetings
Ms. White welcomed everyone back and wished everyone a Happy New Year!
II. School Based Budget
• Limited English Proficient students and Special Education students are included in the school budget and also receive additional funds from the state.
• It is important that we ensure students return lunch forms by the October 15 date every year in order to accurately receive funds based on student numbers
• Kindergarten teachers have requested $1,500/class to cover the cost of consumables, materials, and text inventory
• The bulk of our school budget money goes to salaries and benefits. Our SBB includes stipends, professional developments, supplies and materials, and equipment.
• Please note that money not used during the year go back to the district,
• Ms. Meredith suggested a Writing club for next year
Club Approvals:
• The peer mediation club is up for discussion
• The dance as well as the chorus club has been approved, but should be open to the public not just a select few students
• A library club where all students can borrow books and do research has requested
• It has been temporarily approved for the remainder of the year
PBS:
• There was $2,500 available for outside professional development (it has been added to the Positive Behavior funding)
• We have agreed to maintain our PBS initiatives
• We have 672 students including sub-groups
• This money has to cover incentive trips, (5-7) safety patrol trip, No ODR days
• A question was asked whether the Livingston Mall and High Note Festival trip has been budgeted for
• There is $50 in petty cash
Supplies:
• The Art teachers have stated that the supplies in their classrooms can be used by classroom teachers
• A lot of the supplies found in their classrooms they really don’t need
• The World Languages teachers have requested extra money for students to have their own workbooks to work from
• Most of us agreed that the process for ordering supplies went fine and will remain as is
• More laminating paper will be ordered for our laminating machine
• The district is looking into whether or not headphones can be purchased in bulk and allow parents to purchase directly from the schools
• Some teachers are missing or do not have FOSS Science kits (please tell your team leaders so that they may be ordered by the school)
