Season Twelve at ASC, exploring the theme Rough Magic, offers Goldman Sachs and Actors Shakespeare Company at NJCU a rare partnership opportunity, which will provide a rich cultural experience to elementary, middle and high school students in Jersey City and throughout Hudson County.

With Goldman Sachs's potential sponsorship, ASC at

NJCU is planning productions of The Tempest in

December, 2011, Macbeth March of 2012, both at Jersey

City's West Side Theatre. The productions will include several student matinees, as well as preparatory inschool workshops prior to the performance and Q&A

talkbacks with the actors after the performance. Additionally, ASC serves two major schools for

students with disabilities: the A. Harry Moore School and St. Joseph's School for the Blind. To

help students with disabilities fully enjoy and understand the production, ASC will offer assisted

listening, audio description, tactile pre-performance tours and additional preparation.

ASC at NJCU will use this exciting season to highlight Goldman Sachs' and NJCU's leadership in providing educational and cultural opportunities of the highest quality to students from Hudson and nearby Essex, Union and Bergen Counties.

In conjunction with the productions, ASC will offer workshops, discussions and receptions highlighting the Goldman Sachs partnership.

The program will serve over 1,100 students, not only bringing them to the theater for what will be the first time for most, but also by taking the actors directly into the classroom to discuss the important and relevant themes of both plays and their connection to our world today.

Macbeth will be produced as part of a Statewide, month-long event: Stages Festival, overseen and marketed by the New Jersey Theatre Alliance. Stages Festival targets families and theater-goers of all ages throughout New Jersey.

The productions will be used to increase public awareness of NJCU, Jersey City and its community partners, including Goldman Sachs.

Building Partnerships: To announce the new partnership, ASC at NJCU would like to hold a breakfast at Goldman Sachs. This carefully planned, one-hour event would highlight the new partnership between ASC at NJCU and Goldman Sachs and introduce ASC at NJCU and its work to Goldman Sachs' partners and other businesses in the area, encouraging other companies to get involved with:

Educational and Production Sponsorships

Board Memberships

Volunteer Days

Hosting future events

The meeting would not be a fund raiser, but an introduction to be followed up with a phone call from ASC at NJCU.

In these and other ways, ASC at NJCU and Goldman Sachs can work together to garner attention and support for the West Side area, and bring arts and culture to a challenged and underserved school system.
