The names will be of a god or hero. STEP TWO: Take a little time to investigate both names then pick ONE of those names for your presentation.STEP THREE: Research your choice using physical books. You cannot use online sources for research. You must use a minimum of three books and one of those must be a reference book.STEP THREE: You will make a power-point, Prezi, or poster (or maybe two posters) to present to the class. STEP FOUR: You will hand in your research notes and a works cited page. Don’t lose them!Posters or power-points should rely on visuals rather than text/words. A few words or names are okay, but keep them minimal. As an oral presentation, YOU will tell US about your hero or god…The audience doesn’t want to read, they want you to verbally express the adventures of these gods and heroes. ----------------------------------------------------Topics: Your presentation must cover these topics about your god/hero:(1) Background: birth, parents, family, where they come from, which mythology they represent (e.g. they are Egyptian or Haida B.C. First Nations).(2) Special qualities, powers, symbols, possessions, as well as their physical appearance and personality.(3) Details of ONE important story involving your god or hero. Provide details and tell it like a proper story. Make the story into something thrilling for your audience to hear! (Note: some stories can be very long so your job is to find one that works within the ten minute time limit.)(4) Explain the significance of this story (from #3 above) from the perspective of your god/hero’s cultural background (For example, how/why the story is important to the Haida of B.C. or Norse Vikings).(5) Using your god/hero and their story, point out modern connections (for example, “Theseus is similar to Luke Skywalker because…”) or connections to other mythos (“Susanoo, from Japanese myth, is similar to other storm gods like Thor in Norse mythology.”).50272951333500----------------------------------------------------Presentations Show your power-point, Prezi, or poster(s) to the class.Minimum five minutes, maximum ten. Both partners must speak.Cue cards are acceptable, but do not read your entire presentation. A goal is to know your material well enough that with the aid of visuals you can orally share your information with the rest of us.413131063504000020000----------------------------------------------------Grading /65/20 Content: all topics covered (if applicable)./10 Visuals: images match and enhance what you are telling the class./5 Organisation: you and your partner work well together, take turns, and are ready to present./10 Knowledge/practice/confidence: you know your material inside-out and backwards and don’t spend half of your presentation saying “ummm…” Also, fewer cue cards = a higher mark here!/5 Engagement: you present in a way that keeps the audience interested./10 Notes: you’ve shown your note-taking skills, not your skill at copying other people’s words./5 Works citedAbout Notes and Works Cited: You will practice these with me and Ms. Lemmon. Notes and works cited must be handed in separately on the same day as your presentation. ................
