Team Captains MUST Register their team online to compete in this Section event.

Registration Instructions:

2. Click on the Tab at top of home page called “Adult Tennis”

3. Click on “Super Senior” link

4. Click on the “Register Here” link to register your team. **Please note: The on-line registration system used to register your team is not associated with TennisLink. Therefore, if you have not used this registration system before sign in as a New User. Upon completing registration you will receive a registration confirmation via e-mail or you may print your own confirmation on the final registration summary page.

Directons To & From Courts:

The Suncoast Hotel & Casino does not provide shuttle service to the Darling Tennis Center. It is highly recommended that you obtain a rental car during your stay

From the Suncoast Hotel & Casino to Darling Tennis Center:

Rampart Street is the main street along the hotel. Go Left out of the hotel onto Alta Drive. Alta Drive is the street that intersects with Rampart Street at the Street Light. Continue East on Alta Drive to Durango Drive. Turn Left (North) on Durango and proceed to Washington Ave. Turn Right (East) on Washington Ave. and proceed to Darling Tennis Center, which is the first building on the right hand side.

Travel Time: 5 – 7 minutes

From the Strip or McCarran Int’l Airport:

Take 15 North to 95 North (Exit 42-A). Proceed on 95 North to the Summerlin Parkway. Exit the Parkway at Durango (the second exit). Take a Right (North) on Durango. Go to the first light, which is Washington, and turn Right (East) on Washington. The Darling Tennis Center will be the first building on your right hand side.

Travel Time: 15 – 20 minutes

ELIGIBILITY

Team Eligibility

• A minimum of 6 players who were on the final local roster must be available to compete at the Section Championship

• The Photo Waiver Form from each player must be brought to the team registration prior to the start of the tournament.  This form will be available at the Captains’ Meeting.

Player Eligibility

• Each player shall have reached sixty (60) years of age prior to or during the calendar year in which such player plays in his/her first local league match.

• Any individual who progresses to championship level in the USTA League Tennis Program must be a current USTA member through each championship progression.

• A player is eligible to advance to championship level competition if that player has played on that same team in the same division in at least two matches during its local league season. A maximum of one defaulted match received shall count for advancing. A retired match shall count for all players involved. USTA Regulation 2.03A(3)

• Using combined NTRP level, the combined NTRP level of the doubles team cannot exceed the combined NTRP ratings level entered. The NTRP difference between members of an individual doubles team may not exceed 1.0 USTA Regulation 2.01A Levels of Play

RULES, REGULATIONS, SCORING, AND COACHING

Intent to Play

Ten days prior to the Section Championships, each team which qualifies to compete in the tournament must notify the District League Coordinator that it will or will not participate in the tournament. The District League Coordinator must in turn, notify the Section League Coordinator of teams attending Section Championships. If a team gives notice that it will participate but then fails to do so, penalties may be administered with the maximum penalty being disqualification of all of its members who had agreed to participate from all league play for the following year. The tournament committee named for the event where the violation occurred shall decide upon the penalty. This decision may be appealed to the ITA Grievance Committee.

Rules and Regulations

• USTA Rules and League Regulations will be enforced during championships.

• All match lineups must be submitted to the tournament desk by the team captain at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the match. Penalties will be enforced at the tournament director’s discretion.

Move Up/Split Up

The section shall have the right to decide whether a team who competes at championship level must move up a level or disperse to form new teams for the following league year and under what conditions. 6.03A(6). The Intermountain Section does not require teams that compete at the Super Senior Senior Section Championship to move up a level or disperse to form new teams.

National Championships

Teams that are eligible to advance to the USTA National Championships can access information by going to . Look on the right side of the page under “Find a National Championship” see your championship event, click and you will be brought to your championship landing page. Then you will need to register your to confirm participation by going to the on-line registration link. Registration fees are as follows:

• 3 position teams (3doubles)

$400 plus processing fee of $40.88

Scoring

• Best of two tiebreak sets with a Match Tiebreak if required.

• The Coman Tiebreak Procedure will be used for the Set and Match Tiebreak.

• Coman Tiebreak Procedure is the same as the present procedure except that ends are changed after the first point, then after every four points until the conclusion of the tiebreak.

• Two minute rest between the 1st and 2nd set and between the 2nd set and 3rd set match tiebreak.

Championship Flight Setup

• Teams will participate in a non-elimination round-robin format

Men’s & Women’s: 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 9.0 Level Teams

• The winner of each flight will be determined by team matches won

• In the event of a tie, the tie will be broken by the first of the following procedures:

• Individual Matches – Winner of the most individual matches in the entire competition

• Sets – Loser of the fewest number of sets

• Games – Loser of the fewest number of games

• Head-to-Head – Winner of head-to-head match

• A method to be determined by the championships committee: procedure to be

announced prior to commencement of championship competition.

Coaching

No coaching allowed. No cell phones or electronic devices allowed on court.

Balls

Penn hard court balls will be provided.

Umpires

There will be certified roving umpires present at the site. Roving umpires may be positioned inside the fenced areas and will interfere with play as little as possible.

Players should be encouraged to play tennis without the need for umpires to be present for matches. In the case of disputed calls and upon the request of the player or team coaches/manager, a roving umpire may be supplied to oversee the match.

Inclement Weather

Please note that the tournament format, number of matches and match length may change due to a team not showing up or circumstances beyond our control such as weather. Rain could cause delays, modifications to the format, and possible cancellation of the tournament. There are NO back-up courts.

In the event of rain, please remain at the tournament site until the tournament staff informs you of the play schedule. In the event of a long rain delay, it will be at the discretion of the Tournament Committee to use an alternative-playing format.

Cancellation

If the championship, or part of the championships is cancelled due to rain or unforeseen circumstances, the championship will not be rescheduled.

Match Schedule: The match schedule will be posted to the ITA website by January 16, 2012. To locate match schedule go to intermountain..On top of homepage scroll over “Adult Tennis” and click on 2011 Super Senior Section Championship and there you will find “Match Schedule Link”. The match schedule can also be found on TennisLink.

IMPORTANT: Please be advised that the match schedule is subject to change at ANY time as deemed necessary by the Championship Committee. Therefore we strongly recommend that you make your flight arrangements with the intention of participating throughout the entire weekend. Matches start at 8:00am Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Matches should be completed by 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Weather or other delays may occur, so we strongly suggest that you do not schedule early afternoon flights home on Sunday. Please make your travel plans in accordance with these tournament parameters.

AWARDS

Awards will be given to the 1st Place team(s). The USTA Intermountain Section provides a maximum of (8) awards per team. Additional awards may be purchased at a cost of $11/award.

The team captain will receive an order form at the conclusion of the event as awards will be shipped directly to the captain. The deadline to complete and submit the order form is March 20, 2012. If you have any questions concerning awards contact Tournament Director, Lynn Lozano at Lozano@ita.

Team Photos

Team photos will be taken of the 1st Place teams once the champion has been determined. If your team prefers to use an alternate photo you may e-mail photo to the Tournament Director Lozano@ita.

Player Gift Exchange

Many teams bring “little” gifts for other teams. They should be inexpensive small tokens. Often the gifts represent their region or state. Examples are – state pins, magnets, key rings, and candy. These gifts are presented to the opponents in your flight. If you want to participate contact your local or state tourist/convention bureau. They may be able to provide you with small, promotional items. Typically, teams bring approximately 10 gifts per team.

Match results will be entered daily. To view stats and standings in TennisLink go to h, scroll down to Stats and Standings at bottom of page. Click on Championship Advanced Search and drill down to the appropriate Section Championship and level.
