Educational Implications
This trip is educationally advantageous to students and ties into the curriculum by addressing the AVID mission of increasing the awareness and enrollment in four-year colleges. Students will gain an increased awareness of specific universities that otherwise may not be accessible to them. Students will view various campus types and sizes, in order to aid in their upcoming college selection process. Therefore, by visiting a wide variety of colleges, the students will be able to make more educated decisions about where they would like to attend. They will have the opportunity to feel the cultural atmosphere, and compare educational programs offered at each college, which will assist them in making a more thoughtful decision about their future. In addition, this trip is a wonderful way to reward the AVID students for their continued commitment to their educational goals.
