The role is to provide waking night nursing cover to meet the needs of the residential students who have a range of conditions. Key responsibilitiesAssessing students with complex care needs and identifying suitable staff to work with the student in order to deliver a professional and safe serviceThe development and training of care staff to undertake delegated health tasks. This includes assessing competency of staff selected to work with students and developing an action plan when someone has not been assessed as competentManage the clinical night teamHave a quality overview of the care provision for residential studentsTaking key responsibility for the well-being of our students, including making sure their physical, emotional and social needs are metDeveloping, implementing, evaluating and reviewing individualised care plans in Holistic manner that encompasses the students views and wishesMonitor work areas and practices to ensure they are safe and conform to relevant standards, policies and legislationPromote our students independence, choice, dignity and respect by delivering the very best standards of care whilst striving for continuous improvementPrioritise infection prevention and control and health and safety within the workplace The development and delivery of clinical training packagesResponsible for raising safeguarding concerns in line with Henshaws safeguarding policy.Lead, motivate, mentor and provide clinical guidance and training to ensure the safety of our studentsContribute to clinical governance and quality assurance processes Carry out essential nursing tasks and duties to aid training including distribution of medication, dressings, catheterisation, enteral feeding, bowel irrigation and intermittent catheterisation and any other nursing topics relevant to our studentsCommunicate and liaise with other professionals involved in the well-being and care of our students. As well as family members and other staff membersAssist in ensuring that enablers deliver the care and support in an effective, efficient and professional manner, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to and a high standard of service is deliveredRespond to incidents in a professional and appropriate manner, investigate to inform improved practice.Establish and maintain outstanding communication with students, parents colleagues and external professionalsAttend regular team meetings, including multidisciplinary team meetings and pre-entry applicant meetings around the delivery of services to studentsEnsure that appropriate, clear and accurate systems of recording, reporting, quality control and action planning are maintainedParticipation in a clinical escalation on call process on a rostered basisTo ensure that Infection prevention and control guidelines are followed at all times and to assist the clinical team with auditing the serviceTo participate in quality assurance such as auditing care plans and medication administration records.Contribute to review reports and actions, monitoring progress, attending and reporting to reviews and meetings as necessary.Ensure that all policies and procedures are adhered to Work with the College Care Managers to ensure that Care Leaders are overseeing and monitoring all medicine administration and that the systems that are in place are effective and are being correctly used in accordance with CQC and legal requirements.Assist with the recruitment, selection and retention of appropriate health care staff.Ensure that all staff has the necessary induction, mandatory, and role specific training to meet our standards and legal requirements in a clinical capacity.Take responsibility for undertaking appropriate risk assessments for nursing responsibilities and checking that the control measures are being consistently followed.
