The 2019-20 Rochester Charter School Lottery Application Deadline is April 1 at Noon

Parents can apply with a simple click of a button at

Rochester, NY--March 20, 2019--The lottery deadline for most Rochester Charter Schools is April 1 at noon. Through , parents and guardians of children in grades K-12 can apply to up to 11 charter schools in 19 locations through an easy online common application. The application is free and accessible in English and Spanish on any web-enabled device.

While charter schools accept applications all year long, families are encouraged to apply by the lottery deadline when schools have the most openings.

There are no tests or entrance fees for charter schools and names are drawn at random by a computer program. Charters accept students who need extra help in school, have IEPs and are English language learners.

After the lottery has been drawn on April 2, students will either be given an enrollment offer or be added to school waitlists. Students may be accepted at more than one school. Parents should expect to hear from schools within a week after the deadline.

Through , parents and caregivers can learn about school locations and grade levels in a centralized place to help them choose the right school for their child(ren). This paperless system is a major shift for Rochester City families and empowers them to make choices by improving access to information.

Charter schools are free public schools that have the flexibility to create a safe and supportive learning environment with quality academic programs. Most charters offer busing, after school activities, athletics and enrichment experiences for children in grades K-12.
