Morning Greeting

Good morning kindergarten friends! Today is Tuesday, March 31, 2020. We have a busy week ahead of us! I will post assignments here daily. Please do not feel

overwhelmed. I am here to help in any way I can to help your child continue to learn!

Fun Fact for today: A crocodile cannot stick its tongue out.

Reading

Today’s Reading Strategy: Skippy Frog”-When you get stuck on a tricky word, skip the word, read to the end of the sentence, and then hop back and read once you

read the rest of the sentence. Once you hear the rest of the sentence, the tricky word might make sense to you. Please practice it at home. Under our “Parent

Resources” tab on our webpage, there is a tab “Reading Strategies for Tricky Words.”

Independent Reading: Read one book on Razkids and answer the comprehension questions. Please listen to the book once, read the book two times, and then answer

the comprehension questions.

Read aloud: Happy Spring everyone! In this story they will tell you lots of signs of Spring. See if you can remember the signs of spring.  Please copy and

paste the following address:

Did you like the story? Why or why not? What were some of the signs of Spring in the story?

Do you notice any signs of Spring by your house? Tell a grown up or write about the signs of Spring by your house.

Word Work: Practice writing your new ten sight words from your list of words. Today’s activity:  Play “hot lava.”  Write each word on a card (piece of paper).

Spread the words out on the floor.  You call out one of the words and they must hop to the correct word and stand on it (have them spell it out loud).  The

floor is the “hot lava” and they want to hop on the words on paper as these are the rocks in the hot lava!  Remember once you can read them in a “SNAP” and

write them move onto the next list.

Writing

Today’s Writing focus point: Using a capital letter at the beginning, lowercase letters throughout the rest of their sentence and a period at the end.
