Dear Super Sixth Grader: - Central Bucks School District

June 2018Dear Super Second Grader:Hello and welcome to Mrs. Kessler’s second grade class. I am so excited that YOU are in my class and wanted to let you know that we are going to have a FANTASTIC year together. Second grade is a special year of growth and discovery. I can’t wait to grow and discover with you!Part of enjoying your classroom is getting to know your teacher, so I would like to tell you a little about me. I live in Wycombe with Mr. Kessler and my son Jason, who is 18 and will be entering his first year of college in August. WOW! His high school years did fly by. I can’t believe I am sending him off to college. For vacation, I will be traveling with friends to NYC, and Sea Isle Beach for lots of fun! In August, I will be traveling with Mr. Kessler and Jason to Kenyon College in Ohio and attending parent orientation for a weekend. I always love summer, but this may be a sad one for me as I send Jason away for the very first time. But, I have all of you to look forward to seeing in September. WOOHOO! I can’t wait to share all my summer experiences with you and I look forward to hearing all about your summer too!699444410842180387613100Second grade is full of so much learning and fun! Be sure to enjoy! See you on the first day of school in Room A-141!Your second-grade teacher,3273005715 Mrs. KesslerJune 2018Dear Second Grade Parents:I am so excited and honored to welcome your child into our second grade classroom! I am very excited to begin another new school year and to be in second grade with such a wonderful group of children and teachers. I believe it is essential that parents and teacher take a team approach in a child’s education. Working closely together and having open lines of communication are important in navigating a successful year of academic, emotional and social growth. Please know that my door is always open and I am just an e-mail or phone call away. (mkessler@ or ext. 4281)One of the key components in grade two is developing a strong reader. Fluent reading unlocks the door to learning across the curriculum. On that note, many children “slip backwards” during the summer months due to inactivity. I encourage you to give your child a distinct advantage this fall by overseeing regular reading. Reading can be anything, not just a book; magazine, map, poetry, newspaper, etc. Becoming a “life-long reader” begins with developing reading habits early in life. The CB website has resources for summer reading. There is a book log that can be returned in the fall for a reading certificate!? Enclosed with this letter is a student supply list. I would like your child to bring the supplies with him/her by the end of the first week. I look forward to meeting you this fall at Back-to-School Night which is scheduled for Monday, September 17 at 6:30. Have fun making summer memories with your child. And, be sure to find time for yourself too! Sincerely,Mrs. Kessler ................
