Announcements:

1. AP registration continues in the GO store up until Wednesday, April 9.  Students without a lunch period can register either during 9th period in the GO store or they can register during open school afternoon on Friday, March 28.

2. The following announcement is for the Boy's tennis team: There will be practice for all players on Tue 3/25 and Fri 3/28. All team members must attend the Home match on Wed 3/26.

3. The New York State "Econ Challenge" sponsored by the National Council of Economic Education and Goldman Sachs, was held on March 12, 2008, on the Campus of Nassau Community College.  Students competed in the Baccalaureate/Advanced Placement Division, answering questions on Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and International Trade.  Competing teams came from Great Neck South H.S., John Kennedy H.S., Brooklyn Tech H.S., Half Hollow H.S. West, Oceanside H.S., and Northport H.S.  Representing Brooklyn Tech were the following students from the Social Science major: Tida Choomchaiyo, Pavel Konoplenko, Raquel Merchant, Eduard Alpine, Veronica Chuah, and Anri Vartanov.  Brooklyn Tech, the only NYC Public High School in the competition, finished in third place behind Great Neck South and John Kennedy respectively. 

4. This is a reminder that Prefect will meet on Wednesday, March 26th.  And on Thursday and Friday of this week will be the Parent/Teacher Conferences.  As a result, there will be a special schedule on Friday, March 28th.  That schedule is available at bths.edu.

5. Puccini's La Boheme is the greatest love story ever.  Students and teachers can obtain free tickets for the Metropolitan Opera simulcast of this classic opera on Saturday afternoon on April 5th.  See Mr. Grandt in the library during the day for your free ticket.

6. Othello is coming to Brooklyn Tech in April.  And admission is free.  See 7 actors from the American Globe Theater excite and entertain us in our very own auditorium.  More details will be shared soon.

7. All students should be informed that this Wednesday is not Culture Day. Culture Day and the Culture Day Assembly will be rescheduled.

8. Sophomores must complete the Majors form and submit the completed signed email response to your prefect teachers on March 26th, 2008.

10. Juniors, get ready for your semiformal on the Temptress on May 17! Check the school website soon for details.

11. The next Senior Dues collection will take place this week and Monday of next week. There is a $20 late fee and no yearbook availability.

12. To all students attending the spring trip to Disney and Universal, the 5th and final payment is also due between this week and Monday of next week. Please be on time with your final payments.

13. Want to be crowned as part of the 2008 prom court? Come to 7C1 to sign up for one of 8 positions at this year’s prom. Preliminary sign up will take place until April 25.

14. This week’s Student Assembly meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 25th. It has been moved to Room 2C3. The agenda includes a discussion with two assistant principals and the sergeant of school safety.

15. THE NATIONAL BETA CLUB IS HOSTING A CAN FOOD DRIVE DURING ALL LUNCH PERIODS THIS WEEK. THE CANS WILL HELP FEED THE HOMELESS IN SHELTERS AND HELP THE NEEDY. DONATE TODAY~ IT COULD PREVENT A KID IN THE STREET FROM STARVING TONIGHT.

16. The producers of You Got Served wish to remind everyone that You Got Served is on May 9th, and will only cost $2 if you buy your tickets in advance! Tickets start selling on April 7th. And now, of course - is the time for the random fact of the day! Did you know that the largest accordion measures over 6 feet in width?

17. Juniors should be reminded that a college trip to Boston is taking place over Spring Break.  Go to bths.edu to read all the details and to access the necessary paperwork.  Seats are limited, so visit the website and get the information as SOON as possible.

18. The 7th Annual Band Showcase will be taking place on Friday, April 4th in the Auditorium at 4pm.  Come out and support your fellow classmates as they perform with their bands.  Tickets are on sale now in the G.O. Store for $3.00.  Tickets will be sold at the door for a higher price.  Help the band of your choice win, by buying a ticket with the band's color:  Cellars-Grey, Bacon; Lettuce, and Terror-Green; Heroes Fall First-Yellow; T-Funk-Red; Purple Hang Over-Purple.  There will also be a special guest performance by one of Tech's own faculty members: Mr. DePinto!

19. Do you like clothes? Do you want to be a model in the Brooklyn Tech Fashion Show? Come join the Tech Fashion Club! The second meeting is on March 31st, room 2W6.
