The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is accepting employment applications for temporary employment. The number, duration and work hours of the positions vary by assignment. All positions are located on the State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, New York.

Trades Generalist, NS A Trades Generalist performs journey-level work in one trade, and skilled and semiskilled level work in a combination of other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Incumbents frequently supervise others in maintenance, repair, installation and construction activities.

Minimum Qualifications: Non-competitive: four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled journey level worker which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprenticeship training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school, institute or branch of the Armed Services may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

State Fair Worker, NS State Fair Workers perform manual tasks, including grounds work, cleaning, parking, and maintenance services as members of a work crew for events held on the State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.

There are no education or experience requirements. Candidates must have physical ability to perform work consisting of light or medium to heavy physical labor. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York Sate driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
