Troubleshooting - Report Exec

[Pages:1]Troubleshooting:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object

The "Object Reference" error can occur almost anywhere in the program but the error will most often occur when logging into the program.

Object Reference errors typically denote a conflict in the user's browser cache. Depending on the web browser in use (IE, Firefox, Chrome, or Safari) the steps for clearing the browser's cache will be slightly different.

Clearing a user's web browser cache will correct this error 99% of the time.

Refer to the Report Exec Enterprise Browser Settings document 1 for more information about clearing the cache of a web browser.

When clearing the web browser's cache does not correct the error:

In Internet Explorer specifically, there is a setting that defines whether the browser will check for an updated version of the webpage. Make sure this setting is set to Always as noted in the Report Exec Enterprise Browser Settings document.

In Internet Explorer specifically, clearing the Temporary Internet Files (cache) also requires the browser to be restarted. Restart the browser by closing all open Internet Explorer windows and then re-opening Internet Explorer.

If clearing the cache did not address this error then there may be a deeper issue at work. It is advised to contact Report Exec Technical Support for further troubleshooting.
