A Message from Our Incoming Chamber President...Gail Carlin

Dear Chamber members, Wow, the summer of 2011 was one to remember! The days were hot, humid and

sunny, and then there was tropical storm Irene. Although its impact was not quite as severe as predicted, it left its mark on Long Island with many downed trees and power lines, flooded basements and no electricity for many for several days. Hopefully, its impact was not too severe on you, your family and your business.

On July 28th, the Oceanside Chamber hosted a "Summer Social" with the Rockville Centre, Valley Stream chambers, and approximately 35 people enjoyed an evening of good food and fellowship at Union Park Caf?. Everyone enjoyed the evening's festivities, and expressed a desire for more of these multi-chamber events in the future. On October 7, the Nassau Council Chambers of Commerce will host its annual legislative breakfast and honor its outstanding small businesspersons of the year selected by the Chambers of Commerce across Nassau County. This year, the Oceanside Chamber's Small Businessperson of the Year is Joe Bonin of J Paul's Caf?. The event will take place at the Crest Hollow Country Club from 8:00 ? 10:00 am. If you are interested in attending, please contact me at 377-5371. (We have a table for 10 on a first come, first served basis). Oceanside is a community that we can be proud of. From our superb schools to our excellent hospital, Oceanside is a community where we can be successful in our business and personal endeavors. I urge all members to get involved with the chamber by coming to the meetings and getting involved in our committees. Our chamber is only as strong as our members' participation. So, come and join us at our General membership meetings on the first Thursday of the month at 1:00 pm at IHOP. Hope to see you there.

Regards,

Gail S. Carlin

President
