MESSAGE FROM NSAA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Anchorage's Nordic skiing community is built on pride, passion and stewardship of generations of Alaskan skiers, our shared world-class trail system and countless miles of off-trail skiing adventures that inspire Alaskans and visitors from around the world. At the heart of this community is the Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage. For 54 years, NSAA has led the events, programs and community advocacy that bolster and unify the community. In winter, and all seasons, NSAA staff and volunteers maintain and sustain Anchorage's trails and lead the wide-ranging programs and events that bring our community closer.

Recognizing your special role as a major NSAA contributor, it

is our goal to share this report of our organization's financial

details and season impact within the community.

Financially, NSAA's fiscal year concluded with a positive net income with membership being an integral part of this success despite a lower-than-normal snow year. Strong

trails

participation in the Tour of Anchorage and Junior Nordic programs were also big contributors. Close to 40 percent

of NSAA's total income was from events and programs, with a third from public support, including corporate

donations. This revenue fuels NSAA's unique service of providing quality trails, events and programs.

The 2016-2017 fiscal year's positive bottom line gave NSAA an opportunity to reinvest back into our Nordic community with planned projects, including hosting U.S. Nationals in January 2018 and upgrading Kincaid Park trails and infrastructure. NSAA is able to better support Nordic events at Kincaid with an enhanced sound system, a weather camera, the posting real time results and live streaming capability.

NSAA is doing great things, continuing toward long-term sustainability, and achieving a healthy posture financially for NSAA's future. Thank you for your support in strengthening NSAA's work and our Nordic community.
