REPORT FOR THE PROVISION OF COORDINATED EARLY INTERVENING SERVICES

Purpose: The purpose of this form is to collect data from districts regarding their use of IDEA funds for Coordinated Early Intervening Services (CEIS). The statutory authority for this data collection can be found in WAC 392-172A-06085. In general, districts using IDEA funds must report annually to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) the number of students who received CEIS services; and, the number of students who received CEIS services and subsequently receive special education and related services during the two-year period after receiving CEIS. In order to appropriately apply the maintenance of effort calculation, OSPI has added Section III for the 2008-2009 data reporting requirement.

In implementing CEIS, a local education agency may carry out activities that include: (a) Professional development, which may be provided by entities other than local educational agencies, for teachers and other school staff to enable such personnel to deliver scientifically based academic and behavioral interventions, including scientifically based literacy instruction, and, where appropriate, instruction on the use of adaptive and instructional software; and (b) Providing educational and behavioral evaluations, services, and supports, including scientifically based literacy instruction” WAC 392-172A-06085 (2)
