NEW ENGLAND SCHOOL SCRABBLE? CHAMPIONSHIP

Location: Ridgefield Library, 472 Main St., Ridgefield, CT 06877 (203-438-2282)

Time: Saturday, April 6, 2019, 10:00 am-4:30 pm (registration starts 9:30 am)

Format: Five 50-minute School SCRABBLE games (played in teams of two) using official NASPA School SCRABBLE Rules (except for age limits) and The Official SCRABBLE Players Dictionary, 6th Edition as the lexicon. Players must be in 3rd-12th grade. We will find partners for players who do not have a teammate (or they may play solo). 9th-12th graders may play solo or in teams.

Note: Championship, Intermediate, and Novice divisions will be offered. Prizes for all ages, plus special prizes for high game and high play, and a benefit raffle.

NASPA YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS: Points from this tournament will count toward the 2018-19 NASPA Youth Achievement Awards.

Registration: Entry/materials fee $10 per player. Entries close Monday, April 1. WALK-IN REGISTRATIONS ONLY TO EVEN DIVISIONS. Bring a lunch or money to buy food nearby.

CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION: For players rated by NASPA or in 9th-12th grade. INTERMEDIATE DIVISION: For players rated under 700 or in 7th-12th grade.

NOVICE DIVISION: For first-time and unrated players in 3rd-6th grade.

HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION: For players in 9th-12th grade playing in teams or one-on-one.

NOTE: Director may adjust a team's division to avoid byes or by special request.
