The state of Ohio now has 24 new licensees beginning to build their business. Licensees now have up to 9 months to build their facility. Upon completion, the Ohio Department of Commerce will inspect the facility ensuring they've met all requirements. If all requirements are met, they are issued a Certificate of Operation, at which time they can begin to grow their product.

The processes of obtaining applications, scoring and announcing have been consistent, timely and fair. The scoring was handled professionally by a group of more than 20 experts who scored on a consensus basis. Every precaution was taken to ensure identifiable information about the applicant was never seen by the scoring team.

Commerce is excited to work with new Ohio businesses as this program continue to unfold and will continue to meet every deadline and benchmark set forth in HB 523.
