Constitution

Preamble:

The Football Club of the Ohio State College of Medicine is established to give Ohio State medical students an outlet to the stresses of medical school through organized friendly soccer matches. Additionally, the club offers a platform for the interaction of medical students of different years as well as a general opportunity to socially interact with peers. This organization and its members shall not discriminate against any individual(s) for reasons of age, disability, gender identity or expression, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, or military veteran status.

Article 1: Club Name

The organization shall be known as Football Club of the Ohio State College of Medicine (OSUCOM F.C.).

Article 2: Meetings

Club meetings will be called by the President or Vice President. The President or Vice-President shall run the meeting and set the date and time.

Article 3: Officers & Duties:

President:

• Head and preside over all organized meetings.

• Be in charge of the strategic planning of the club.

• Shall sign all financial vouchers/checks.

• Shall help organize charity events.

• Shall keep an active roster of club members

Treasurer

• Shall act in the absence of the President.

• Shall help organize charity events.

• Shall help lead new members of the club

• Shall handle all financial matters of the club with approval of the advisor and president

Section I: Vacancies in leadership shall be filled as soon as possible by a special election under the same terms of normal elections.

Section II: Officer positions shall be held only by members in their first or second year of medical school.

Section II: Officer positions shall be held until the end of the student second year of medical school, except in the case of resignation.

Article 4: Advisor

Faculty Advisor: Is recommended to attend one annual meeting and required to give input in an advisory capacity only. Shall stay in that position until he/she resigns or the club selects someone else.

Article 5: Elections

Section 1: All student members are eligible for an officer position. Only student members may vote in student officer positions.

Section II: Elections will be held following by the end of spring semester.

Section III: If a position has contest, a student member election shall take place, if a position has no contest they will assume the position.

Section IV: Elections shall be run by the highest ranking officer that is not running for a position. If all officers are running for a position, the previous year’s president or highest ranking officer shall run the election.

Article 6: Membership

Section 1: Student membership is limited to only those students who are actively enrolled in an Ohio State University College of Medicine program (including MD, MD/PhD etc.)

Article 7: Selection of New Members

Section 1: Attendance is granted to all those students meeting membership criteria who attend at least 3 organized meetings annually

Section 2: No student shall be prohibited entry into the club based on their race, religion, or personal beliefs.

Article 8: Recall of Officers

An officer’s position may be recalled by a two-thirds vote of the student membership in an open and apparent process, with approval by at least one other officer.

Article 9: Amendments

These bylaws may be amended by three-fourths of the voting members present at a club meeting called for or including the purpose with approval from at least one officer.
