Ohio's Statewide Family Engagement Center
National Network of Partnership Schools Model ImplementationState Support Team ExpectationsIntroduction:Ohio’s Statewide Family Engagement Center at The Ohio State University is partnering with the Ohio Department of Education and Johns Hopkins University to bring training, technical assistance, and funding to Ohio schools for the implementation of the evidence based program, the National Network of Partnerships Schools model (NNPS). This model, developed by Joyce Epstein, fits well with Ohio’s Improvement Process and is consistent with Title I expectations for districts and schools. By implementing this evidence-based model, Ohio districts will develop district staff capacity to support implementation of a school team and action steps for family engagement that align with the school’s plan for improvement. The Statewide Family Engagement Center is providing funding, training, and technical assistance for the model from 2019-2023 to support the training of staff from all State Support Teams and subsequent trainings on specific topics. The Center is also funding training for 48 district leaders (three per region) in three cohorts and two school teams (one elementary, and one middle or high school) in each district. Table 2 summarizes the four-year schedule of school district training, implementation, and coaching. The Center’s role and expectations for State Support Teams and the amount of funding each year of the grant for State Support Teams are outlined in Table 1 below. The expenditure of funds for SSTs is flexible within the allowable uses.
