However we had about 7 freshmen moved in and that helped our numbers out a lot. Practice started last week and the whole team has been working hard to get in shape, get the plays down, and everyone get mentally prepared for our first game coming up on August, 30th. August 30th will also be Homecoming so we are hoping everyone comes out and supports the team when we take on DCLA. We hope to see everyone there! How to Survive High Schoolby Josephine LarsenStill trying to figure out this whole high school thing? Join the club. High school can be a confusing and frustrating time for almost every one, no one has the answers but we all have our tips and tricks to get through the day. A big help is never going to bed angry, sounds cliché I know, but it really does help. Waking up for school rested and in a good mood will make the days seem shorter and over all better. Also be nice to everyone. You never know who’s having a bad day and just needs a smile. Finally the biggest tip for this battlefield we call high school is… just be you. Being true to yourself will help you find your best friends and the extra-curricular that is right for you. Don’t worry, it gets better!High school Bandby Kellie McKee The High School Band begins activities this year with pep band on August 30th, Homecoming night. They are currently working hard on marching band for their first performance in October. The theme the band is doing this year is Thank you for the music. They will be playing Do Re Mi, from The Sound of Music, A Million Dreams, from The Greatest Showman, and Mamma Mia, from Mamma Mia. Moving onto their September news, September 20th is their second pep band game. The Pep Band members work after school to learn new songs- and relearn old ones. The band does an epic job of getting people hyped up and ready for the games. Don’t forget to mark your calendars, the band plays the National Anthem before games, and you don’t want to miss it. October 1st is the first field marching contest. Mrs. Tolle works hard and long to plan out the drill and to perfect it. She always makes it a thrill to see and support the outcome. The band members have to memorize where they need to be on the field, when they need to move, how they need to move, and when they need to start and stop playing; band isn't games. Pep band is the 4th. Make sure you don't miss out. The annual Band Carnival from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. is on the 15th. You really don’t want to miss this. You get to play games, eat food, and enjoy the fun and lively atmosphere the band members create, making this wonderful night be full of fun and joy. Our band holds a Hometown Performance and community meal on the 21st (October). You can go the football field and watch what the bands been working on for months before they head off to Skiatook the next morning (the 22nd). OSSAA Regional Marching Contest is in Skiatook as usual. This is the big moment the band has been waiting for in field marching. They travel to Skiatook every year to march for the judges and anxiously await the results. Go out and support the band, and be sure to thank Mrs. Tolle for being such an amazing teacher, not only in music, but in life too. Cross country newsby Donny BellThe high school Cross country team is back in practice for the upcoming Cross Country season. They are coming off of a fantastic year of running from landing their spot in state last season and are looking to make an even bigger splash this year. Some of the athletes have been practicing in the summer as early as July to get ready for this new season. Their first meet of the year will be at Salt Plains on Monday, August 26th, the starting time is 4:30p.m. The junior high runners will run first and then the high school will run after. We lost two good runners in Solomon Bishop and Ryan Sissom but with the addition of 4 new athletes on the team, we should be just as strong if not stronger than last season. It would be very much appreciated if you come out and cheer us on this season. Maybe you’re a sports fanatic or even lover of pop culture. The academic team might be for you. The Kremlin-Hillsdale Academic Team will be having try outs very soon. Our school has consistently had an outstanding team, making it to state and even nationals a multitude of times. Not only does the Varsity high school team do a great job, but the junior high and elementary teams as well. Mr. Gossen, our resident human calculator will coach the team as always. He works tirelessly ensuring we are prepared with knowledge and of course snacks. If you are interested in trying out for the academic team, pop by Gossen’s room and ask him about it. All students new and old are welcome to try out for the team! Let’s get buzzing. Staff of THE BRONCTHE BRONC is being produced this year by Mr. Vaught’s newspaper class. Members of the class this semester are: Josephine Larson, Logan Baker, Kellie McKee, Donnie Bell, and Kaylynn Brownell. This paper is published at least once a quarter. ................
