Center of Town

Majority of the cities in Oklahoma usually have an east/west street and a north/south street that intersects to create the center of town. The east/west street is what divides the north side of town from the south side of town. The north/south street is what divides the west half of town from the north half of town. The center of town is the point of origin from where the hundred blocks are measured. The hundred blocks provide how far north, south, east or west you are from the center of town.

An address is created up of a street and hundred blocks. First we will look at the street. The direction of the street will determine if the address is east or west of town OR north or south of town. Example: May Ave in Oklahoma City runs north and south, so this means the hundred block is north or south of town. Now the prefix in front of the street name determines if the address is located on the north or south side of town. Example: N May Ave in Oklahoma City means the address is on the north side of town. Now let's add the number part of the address, 2135 N May Ave, the last two digits are always the house number for that particular block, this is the reason they are called hundred blocks. The remaining digits in front of the last two numbers are the number of blocks the address is located from the center of town. Example: 2135 = 21 blocks north from the center of town on May Ave. If there are 20 houses located on the 2100 block, then how can you identify which house we need to go to? The last two digits of the address, 35, determine which house on the 2100 block.

An important note about hundred block lists

Before Geocall had address hovers or address points, CSR's relied on hundred block lists, counting from the center of town and using map books with hundred blocks listed. Hundred block lists are provided to you during training and are an excellent tool to use when trying to navigate the map.

For instance: Address given 9208 NW 122nd St ? if the address didn't geolocate Instead of panning through the map looking at address hovers ? use the hundred block lists for OKC to determine what the closest section line road is. In this case, it would be just west of County Line Road, because the hundred block list tells you County Line is 9000/8900. Then go directly to the area West of the County Line and look at address hovers. You can zoom to that area quicker to find the address hovers and you have just verified using the hundred block lists that the address is truly in that location in case the address hovers are incorrect.

OKLAHOMA CITY

The center of town for Oklahoma City is Reno Ave and Santa Fe Ave. You should use your OKC

Hundred Block list to find the hundred blocks for addresses on an east/west street. For an

address on a north/south street use the numbered streets (east/west streets) to determine your

hundred blocks. Please note, in Oklahoma City (and Moore) the hundred blocks come before the street. Example: 5902 N May Ave This hundred block is between NW 58th St and NW 59th St.

The same is for the hundred blocks going East and West. If the map indicates 2800 on the East

side of May Ave & 2900 on the West side of May Ave, this means that 2800 through 2899 would

be on the East side of May Ave. 2900 would begin on the West side of May Ave. Example: 2831 NW 59th St would be East of May Ave & 2919 NW 59th St would be West of May Ave.

Any address with a 5-digit house number (23450 Lauren Ln) or a 3-digit street number (3317 NW 164th St) address may be Edmond/Yukon/Moore mailing address, but is actually an

Oklahoma City physical address and would be found using Oklahoma City hundred block system.

Remember, if an address follows Oklahoma City numbering (like the addresses below), you

should list the city as Oklahoma City.

Example: These addresses could be Edmond mailing addresses, but would be looked up using Oklahoma City numbering. The town would still be Edmond or Rural of Edmond
