OKLAHOMA SCHOOL TESTING PROGRAM Parent/Student Report

OKLAHOMA SCHOOL TESTING PROGRAM

Parent/Student Report

Dear Families,

Your child's strengths, abilities and potential cannot be measured by a single test score. And, of course, children are not standardized. Each student grows at different rates both physically and academically. Annual check-ups and measuring growth are important in both areas.

This report showcases student performance on the spring 2018 Oklahoma School Testing Program Assessments in key academic areas. The information included provides a checkpoint for families, teachers and schools to help identify any learning gaps for a student as early as possible.

An additional tool is in development to help families gauge how their student is progressing toward the graduation goal of being college- and career-ready after high school, with each grade level building toward the goal. We plan to have it to you this fall.

If you have questions, please contact your school or the Oklahoma State Department of Education. You may also visit our website, sde., and search "Office of Assessments" for additional resources.

Sincerely,

Joy Hofmeister State Superintendent of Public Instruction Oklahoma State Department of Education

ACHIEVEMENT LEVEL PERFORMANCE

Your Student's Performance Level

Based on Oklahoma Performance Index (OPI)

ADVANCED 331-399

Your student's OPI Performance Level is BASIC.

Your student's OPI score on any one test provides an estimate of what he/she knows and is able to do. If tested again, your student would likely score in this range: 282-298.

PROFICIENT 300-330

BASIC 275-299

BELOW BASIC 200-274

290

IMPORTANT: The Performance Level indicates the student can perform the majority of what is described for that level and even more of what is described for the levels below. The student may also be capable of performing some of what is described in the next level, but not enough to have reached the level. A description of each Performance Level is presented on the back of
