When a “c” is added, Gerald is a Rabbi who has spent his life fighting racial slurs among all groups, including Jews. In 1984 it was the shared last name of characters played by James Cromwell and Robert Carradine, both of whom were nerdy with one, Louis, out for revenge. FTP give the common name, a name that, after months of searching, has no meaning whatsoever, racial slur or otherwise, regardless of what you may have read on hsquizbowl.
