Helping Others Notes March 9, 2011

Basil Marotta Jericho Ministries

Session Outline: Sue and I have received strong prompting from the Lord about a service and benevolence ministry. Many of you have been involved several service projects and given to various benevolence opportunities.

There is a great need today because of circumstances we face. We are standing strong and trusting in God to protect us and supply all our needs. We also believe there will be more and more folks needing help. We think the “church” of Jesus will have opportunities to be a blessing to folks maybe like never before, both in helping and teaching good stewardship.

(Mat 25:31-40 NIV "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. {32} All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. {33} He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

(34)Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. {35} For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, {36} I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' {37} "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? {38} When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? {39} When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' {40} "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

Talk about single lady with broken windshield and rear window how in one day funds raised…

Life Implication: When we are prompted or instructed to do something by and for God, it is important that we obey and do it. The Word is a roadmap for our lives. Do we follow the road laid out for us by God…or do we take the road we decide to follow and disregard God’s leading?

(Luke 6:46-47 NIV) "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? {47} I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. {48} He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. {49} But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete."

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (James 1:22NIV)

(Eph 2:10 NIV) For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Discussion: Let us discuss and pray about how God would use us in the lives of folks in need.

The secret of success is to do the common things uncommonly well.

The world is full of willing people: some willing to work, the rest willing to let them work.

Jesus said…Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God- trust also in me. (John 14:1)

(1 Cor 10:31 NIV) So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

(Col 3:17 NIV) And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

(Mat 5:16 NIV) In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
