Job Leads Report Instructions

This assignment will involve your search for potential job leads utilizing several categories detailed below. You will need to find a total of four leads, one from each category. These leads need to be set up as shown below, assembled in one Word document, and submitted in the appropriate location. Be sure that your Word document identifies the category of each lead, as shown below.

Lead 1: From a Newspaper Want Ad (online ad) Locate a position for which you'll be qualified from a newspaper's online classifieds. Follow these directions to produce a screen print of that ad. Be sure to set up a Word document for these categories labeled with the lead numbers.

How to produce the screen prints as shown below: Find an advertised position from a newspaper's online classified ads. With the ad's description showing on your computer's monitor, press your Print Screen key on the keyboard. This key acts as a "Copy." Then, go to your Word document and type "Lead 1: Newspaper Want Ad," press the Enter key, and then click on the Paste tool on your toolbar. This will past the text that was online into your Word document.

Lead 2: Prospective Employer Summarize a visit that you make with a local employer. Call or walk into the company, and find out what you can about potential openings in your field. Report the answers to the following:

Name of company Person with whom you spoke Are there potential openings? Are they hiring? Would they like for you to submit a resume? What job titles are available at that company in your field? Report any information they give you about job requirements, what they'd be looking for in a

successful applicant, etc.

Lead 3: Internet Locate an ad online from an employer's web site for an opening in your field. This online ad cannot be from a newspaper's web site or from an employment agency. You might want to go to Cargill's web site, or John Deere, or Ottumwa Regional Health Center, or ??? Locate an opening, and the Print Screen of that ad as described in Lead 1. Again, this is an ad for a position for which you'll be qualified upon graduation.

Lead 4: Employment Agency You can locate job openings online from various employment agencies (Manpower, Iowa Workforce, Kelly Services, Account Temps, etc.). Find an ad for which you'll be qualified upon graduation, and again, do a Print Screen and paste into your Word document.
