This role is pivotal in the success of the Chisholm Educational Plan as it supports the implementation of blended learning across the institute as part of a project team. The role has a strong stakeholder focus, using contemporary instructional design principles, methodologies and pedagogy to ensure best practice teaching and learning in an online, classroom and workplace environment. The Learning Designer will have a strong commitment to enhancing the student learning experience through active learning experiences. They see themselves as life-long learners who strive for continuous improvement and are open to new ideas and creative approaches in blended learning program design and delivery. The role requires extensive experience in the design and development of online and blended learning programs to a high quality standard that supports achievement of educational outcomes and enhances student engagement levels. Key AccountabilitiesEducational Program SupportWork with educators and SME’s to analyse current learning resources and program delivery and the key course outcomes for the redevelopment. Structure agreed courses into reasonable, engaging modules ensuring training package requirements and unit learning outcomes are met. Support and guide relevant subject matter experts to ensure courses are set up in the most effective, engaging and pedagogical sound manner.Implement and embed learning design and development practices to enhance learner outcomes.Assist in the delivery of responsive education and training programs to meet organisation-specific objectives.Lead continuous improvement initiatives for teaching programs and methods to ensure improved performance and quality of learner outcomes.Educational Development Develop holistic blended learning curriculum that supports authentic active learning experiences.Support and guide educators to define the key standards to which all Chisholm courses will adhere, including the consistency and development of course guides, learner resources, assessment guides, work placement guides etc.Develop learning programs and resources that are aligned to multiple delivery modes including online, face to face and in the workplace.Write or rewrite learning content (e.g., research, fill gaps) to support the development of cohesive blended learning content.Develop relationships with key educators/SME’s and guide their understanding of best practice learning design principles and suitable blended learning approach for their course/program. Choose and use appropriate digital tools in the development of the blended learning program.Identify emerging trends in educational design and technologies and gain an understanding or proficiency in the use of these new technologies as appropriate.Liaise with content writers/third party vendors to ensure quality of output delivered within set time frames.Educational QualityAdhere to the quality assurance process for all programs developed within the project scope ensuring the standards asset by the Learning Design Framework and Lead Learning Designer. Actively seek and report on feedback from students, educators and other relevant stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement of learning resources and content.Ensure all learning content created is constructively aligned to learning outcomes and assessment. Ensure course content is current and relevant to industry/market by fostering and maintaining connections to educators/SME’s.Support educators to identify strategies that support learners including mentoring, work preparation programs, study skills support, alternative delivery and assessment methodologies, cultural differences and communication requirements.Stakeholder EngagementContribute in collaboration with key stakeholders, to the development and implementation of highly innovative and challenging curriculum programs.Collaborate with and assist in the development of key stakeholder partnerships to implement and renew educational delivery strategies and responsive delivery models.Contribute to building and maintaining strategic relationships, alliances and partnerships with delivery areas and industry.ABOUT USChisholm is Victoria’s premier public vocational education and training provider, with campuses located across Melbourne and the south east.Each year, we welcome some 30,000 students from over 43 culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Skills and ExperienceMandatoryExtensive design experience in an online, face to face and workplace environment across multiple disciplines. Demonstrated experience of using instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles and pedagogy to support the development of blended learning/online learning programs. Experience designing and developing student centred and constructively aligned learning content for online or blended learning programs. Demonstrated experience designing highly interactive, multimedia learning content using a variety of digital technologies e.g., Moodle (or other LMS), Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite (Audition, Premiere Pro), Vyond, Zoom, AR, VR etc.Demonstrated experience in writing/rewriting learning content to suit online/blended learning delivery.Demonstrated experience developing learning content for use in accredited training (e.g., writing and designing learning content to a unit of competency), in higher education or organisational learning and development contexts. Demonstrated experience in the analysis of existing learning content (e.g., training needs analysis) and course design to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
