The mission of the College of Education and Psychology is to provide quality programs that prepare students to enter careers in the fields of Education, Psychology, and Kinesiology (Health and Fitness). The College of Education and Psychology provides educational experiences for the departments of Education, Kinesiology, and Psychology.

This degree option prepares candidates for work in Early Childhood. This degree prepares candidates for a teaching certificate in preschool through third grade and to be leaders in the early childhood profession.

Psychology

The Master of Education, Secondary Education option, Sports Administration specialization is designed to prepare the professional educator for positions as head coach, athletic director, or other administrative positions responsible for directing athletic programs.

Our curriculum covers teaching methods and various technologies, as well as ethical and legal considerations, necessary to work in special education.

> Master of Psychology Degrees

Option A: School Psychology - MS

Focuses on the skills and knowledge needed for providing psychological services within public school settings. The curriculum is designed to prepare students to work with diverse childhood populations, including children from diverse demographic backgrounds as well as children with diverse learning, behavioral and emotional needs. Students who successfully complete this track will be eligible to seek state School Psychologist and School Psychometrist certification.

Option B: Counseling Psychology - MS

Focuses on the skills and knowledge needed to facilitate personal and interpersonal functioning within mental health practice and different community mental health settings. The curriculum is broad-based to prepare students working with many different populations. Students in this track will be eligible to seek state LPC and LBP licensure.

Option C: Sports Psychology - MS

Focuses on the applied knowledge needed in the development and use of psychological skills for the optimal performance and well-being of athletes. The curriculum is designed to address the performance and psychological concerns associated with sports involvement affecting athletes, coaches and families, as well as the developmental and social aspects of sports participation.
