GRADUATE ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY
An applicant for graduate study is expected to hold, as a minimum, the bachelor's degree from a college or university of recognized standing. The applicant's preparation must be appropriate to the desired program, and must meet the requirements of the specific degree program pursued. Your application will be evaluated when all necessary materials are received.
A completed application packet will consist of:
1. Graduate Application for Admission: completed and submitted on-line.
2. Application Fee: discontinued. Please do not pay an application fee. NOTES: As Virginia's "Opportunity University", we want to remove every possible barrier to higher education.
3. Official Transcript(s): Official transcripts from the college / university awarding the Bachelor's degree Official transcripts from all other colleges or universities attended
Graduates of Virginia State University (VSU) are NOT required to submit VSU transcripts, but must submit transcripts for all other colleges or universities attended
Official Evaluated transcripts for coursework completed at colleges or universities outside of the United States. To select an approved evaluating agency visit:

4. Graduate Record Examination (GRE):

Official GRE scores must be no more than five (5) or six (6) years old, depending upon program. 1. Academic Transcript
Transcripts from Colleges or Universities outside the United States... If you attended a college or university outside the United States, you must provide an official evaluated transcript (not from you to us, but from the evaluating agency to us). Please do not send any transcript directly to us that is from a college or university outside of the United States--send it to an evaluating agency. Access one of our approved credential evaluating services from this website:
We prefer and recommend World Education Services (WES) (a mailed copy to us from WES is not necessary as we can access your evaluated transcript in the WES online portal.)

3. Health History
All first-time graduate students are required to provide a complete health history and proof of immunization to Student Health Services. The CERTIFICATION OF IMMUNIZATION must be completed fully and accurately by the student's health care provider prior to matriculation at Virginia State University. Send all completed health forms to:

4. Financial Certification
Certified Affidavit of Support (including Bank Statement not less than 6 months old) attesting to funds available while studying on a 12-month basis (copies of bank drafts and financial statements will not be accepted).
Current estimated expenses: $33,060.00 (US Currency)
5. Form I - 20
The International Student Advisor will evaluate your Financial Documentation to ensure that you have satisfied Department of Homeland Security directives. When all admission and Department of Homeland Security requirements have been met, a Form I-20 will be mailed to you. If you already have a Visa or permanent residency card, submit these to the International Student Advisor.
