Syllabus
Instructor : Eduardo Dominguez
Textbook : United States History, Reconstruction to the Present by Emma J. Lapsansky-Werner et al ., Pearson Prentice Hall.
Objective : The purpose of this course is to examine the history of the United States from the nation’s beginning to the present day in order that students may appreciate their heritage, understand their world, and be prepared to become productive citizens.
Evaluation :
1. All Class work and homework assignments count as one grade each.
2. Quizzes count as two grades.
3. Notebook checks count as two grades.
4. Projects and presentations count as three grades each.
5. Tests count as three grades each.
6. The end of course Exam will count as five grades.
Extra credit will not be assigned to improve a grade.
Work is late if it is not ready to be handed in at the beginning of class (unless otherwise instructed ) . Late work will receive a penalty of five points per day, and must be submitted within five days of the due date. Missed tests must be made up within three days of a student’s return to school. Tests may require a full class period, so always try to be present on test days.
Notebook : 3 ring binders only.
Each student will keep a notebook divided into five sections.

4. Quizzes and tests
5. Movie reviews / miscellaneous
Rules :
1. Be in your seat when bell rings
2. No cell phones or electrical devices in class.
3. Have class material ready to begin work.
4. Be respectful to others.
5. You must have hall pass to leave the room.
Assignments :
Please make sure you read the assignments. If you miss a day, please read those sections
in the chapter.
Reading assignments and tests/quizzes will be announced throughout the sessions. Be diligent in reading the textbook.
