How to manually configure Outlook 2003 to work with Microsoft Online Services

** FOR POP ACCOUNTS DO NOT DELETE THE CURRENT EMAIL PROFILE. OPEN OUTLOOK, CLICK ON ‘TOOLS’, ‘EMAIL ACCOUNTS’, ‘ADD A NEW EMAIL ACCOUNT’, AND PROCEED TO STEP 6.**

DO NOT FOLLOW THESE STEPS IF YOU HAVE NOT BACKED UP YOUR OUTLOOK MAILBOX YET!!!!

1.Open Control Panel.

2.Open Mail.

3.Click Show Profiles.... click to highlight any listed profiles, then click ‘Remove’. Click ‘Apply’ when done

4.Click Add...

5.Type a name for the profile, and then click OK.

6.Select Microsoft Exchange, and then click Next.

8.Enter the following in the Microsoft Exchange Server text box: VA3DIAXVS011.RED001.local

9.Make sure that the Use Cached Exchange Mode option is selected.

10.In the User Name textbox, enter your user name.

11.Click More Settings. You may receive an error message. Click ‘OK’ two times. [pic]

12.Click the Connection tab.

13.Ensure Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP" is enabled.

14.Click Exchange Proxy Settings...

15.In the ‘Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange:’ field, enter the following: red001.mail.

16.Make sure that the ‘Connect using SSL’ and ‘Mutually authenticate the session when connecting with SSL’ are selected. In the ‘Principal name for proxy server:’ field, enter the following text:

msstd:*.mail.

18.Click On fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP.

19.Click OK two times, and then click Next.

20.Click Finish.

21. Open Outlook and enter your email address and password to log into email. You will need to allow time for Outlook to synchronize.

22. In Outlook, click on ‘File’ and ‘Import and Export’

23. Click on ‘Import from another program or file’ and click ‘Next’

24. Scroll down to and select ‘Personal file folder (.pst) and click ‘Next’

25. Click ‘Browse’

26. Click ‘Desktop’ on the left of the ‘Browse’ window and click to highlight the file you created when you backed up your mailbox. Click ‘Open’.

27. Select ‘Do not import duplicates’ and click ‘Next’

28. Click on the top level folder to highlight it, select ‘Include subfolders’ and ‘Import items into the same folder in:’ (your mailbox should automatically populate in the field below). Click Finish. This will import your mailbox from Friday into your new mailbox.

29. Verify in Outlook that the account creation and send and receive settings are working effectively. You will need to deselect ‘Download offline address book’. TO DO THIS OPEN THE TOOLS MENU, THEN EXPAND SEND/RECEIVE, THEN EXPAND THE SEND/RECEIVE SETTINGS MENU OPTION, THEN CLICK ON DEFINE SEND/RECEIVE GROUPS. A NEW WINDOW WILL OPEN. SELECT THE GROUP NAME ‘ALL ACCOUNTS’, THEN CLICK ON THE EDIT BUTTON. A NEW WINDOW WILL OPEN. In the folder selection window below ‘Download Offline Address Book’ make sure that every folder and subfolder is selected for synchronization. You will need to expand each folder to select the subfolders.
