OPEN WAITING LIST FOR SECTION 8 PROGRAM GILA COUNTY ONLY

The Gila County Housing Authority will open the waiting list for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, Tuesday September 4, 2012.

The Section 8 Program is funded by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the Gila County Housing Authority. The applicants name will be placed on a waiting list*, then once determined eligible, program participants are issued a voucher and able to locate an available unit in the private rental market. Qualifying families will pay approximately 30% of their annual gross income for rent and utilities provided the selected unit and rental amount meets program requirements. There are currently no available vouchers but we anticipate a few openings in the coming year.

One of the qualifications to be placed on the waiting list is the family gross income. The income limits are as follows:

In addition to the income limitation, the Housing Authority will maintain applications based on the preferences identified in the Administrative Plan for the Section 8 Program:

1) Residents that live and/or work in Gila County based on date and time of application. 2) Non-Gila County residents are based on date and time of application.

There are also Background Checks for all family members 18+.

*Waiting Lists Individuals and families are placed on the waiting list according to the preferences they claim and the time and date of the application. The length of time a family must wait for assistance depends on the number of people ahead of them on the waiting list and the amount of federal funding that is available. These time restraint's are beyond the Gila County Housing Authority's control.
