Deep Security 9 vCenter Operations Manager Integration

Introduction

Trend Micro Deep Security's integration with VMware vCenter Operations Manager Advanced Edition provides

visibility into security events on your protected VMs from the VMware vCenter Operations Manager console.

Security and operational data can be viewed simultaneously allowing operations managers to correlate security

status with the overall health of their virtual datacenter.

Requirements

Trend Micro

? Deep Security Manager v9.x, installed

? Access to the Deep Security Manager web console via a browser

? The Deep Security Manager server must have network access to the vCenter on which VMware

vCenter Operations Manager is installed.

? The Deep Security Management Pack for vCenter Operations package

(DeepSecurityAdapter-1.x-x.pak) must be available to the VMware vCenter Operations

Manager web console in a local directory.

? The Deep Security Management Pack for vCenter Operations certificate importation script ( import-

cert).

VMware

? VMware vCenter, installed (up to two vCenters are supported)

? VMware vCenter Operations Manager v5.8.x (Advanced Edition), installed (requires custom

dashboard functionality)

? SSH access to the Analytics VM of the vCenter Operations Manager vApp.

Note: The VMware vCenter Operations Manager vApp comprises two VMs: a UI VM

and an Analytics VM.

Installation

Create a vCenter Operations User Account in Deep Security Manager

The Deep Security Management Pack in VMware vCenter Operations Manager will require access to the Deep

Security Manager. You will need to create a read-only "Auditor" account for the Management Pack to use.

1. In the Trend Micro Deep Security Manager, go to Administration > User Management > Users

and click New... in the menu bar.

2. Create a new User account with the Role of "Auditor".

3. Keep a note of the Username and password as you will need to provide this when installing the

Deep Security Management Pack in VMware vCenter Operations Manager.

Enable the SOAP Web Services API in Deep Security Manager

Make sure the SOAP web services are accessible in the Deep Security Manager. In the Deep Security Manager,

go to Administration > System Settings Advanced > SOAP Web Service API and make sure the service

is enabled.

Export the Deep Security Manager certificate

Note: The procedures for exporting a security certificate vary from browser to browser and version to

version. The following instructions apply to Mozilla Firefox 33. If you are not using Firefox 33, check

your browser's documentation for instructions.

To export the Deep Security Manager certificate from Firefox 33:

1. Sign in to Deep Security Manager using Firefox 33.

2. In the browser, click the menu button and choose Options.
