Job Title: Duty Operations Officer

Responsible to: Duty General Manager & Director of Operations

Responsible for: Presentation & Security of Front of House Areas of the DLWP

Department: Front of House Operations

ROLE OBJECTIVES

In reporting to the Duty General Manager:-

Take responsibility for the efficient & effective running of the day to day operations of the DLWP, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.

Ensure the highest possible standard of presentation & cleanliness in all areas of the DLWP at all times.

Ensure a high quality visitor experience in terms of the presentation of the building and customer service.

Ensure the security of the Building and the Galleries are maintained at all times.

Ensure a Health and Safety focus - reporting & responding any issues swiftly.

Ensure that areas are set up and ready for events in good time.

OUTLINE OF ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

To be a presence in the main building, ensuring the presentation and cleanliness of all of the public areas are maintained to a high standard throughout the day.

To be a point of contact for visitors and to assist the DGM with any customer service issues.

To liaise with the DGM to rectify any issues which may adversely affect the building operations and the visitor experience on a day to day basis (ie: wifi /cleanliness/service levels etc).

To be hands-on in dealing with any issues which arise throughout the day.

To respond to radio calls throughout the day.

To record maintenance issues in the Maintenance task folder and to rectify, where possible, under the direction Duty General Manager.

To unlock, de-alarm and open the building, ensuring that all areas are clean, safe and ready to open to the public.

To close down, lock & alarm the building at the end of the day.

To clear, clean & set up areas around the building for a wide variety of events and to return the areas to default status post event.

To assist in the operation & management of a wide variety of Auditorium events.

To complete tasks detailed in the departmental checklists & task lists.

To complete departmental Health & Safety checklists.

To attend the weekly Forward Planning meeting.

To attend quarterly Health & Safety meeting.

To work with the Front of House staffing teams including Gallery Assistants, Auditorium Stewards, general casual employees and Cleaning Team.

To cover Gallery Assistant breaks when required.

To cover gallery shifts when necessary.

To cover the Box Office and Café Bar during busy periods, when required.

To liaise with Programming departments to deliver the full front of house aspect of events (both DLWP programmed and Venue Hire events).

To liaise with the DGM team, to review and update procedures for running DLWP events (Live Community, Private Hires & Education).

To represent the Organisation on a range of occasions and undertake other such duties commensurate with the post holder’s level of responsibility and seniority as may reasonably be required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Excellent customer care and communication skills

Prepared to perform manual handling and cleaning tasks

Ability to plan ahead and work to deadlines

Ability to work well within a team

Ability to take the initiative

An interest in Contemporary Arts &/or Live Performance is desirable

Previous venue/events experience desirable, as is previous experience in a hands-on role

Salary £17,925

Hours 180 hours over a four week period

Evening, weekend and public holiday working is a requirement of the post

Annual Leave 23 days, rising to 25 days after 2 years plus public holidays
