|JOB SUMMARY |

| |

|The nature of the services provided by this position may affect UW Health Patients, Visitors, Employees and departments. A wide variety of both internal and external |

|relationships are involved in carrying out the duties of this position. |

| |

|Under the direction of the Manager Transportation & Fleet Operations, the Supervisor Transportation provides primary supervision of Transportation staff (i.e. Drivers) |

|and coordination of equipment and vehicles needed to accomplish the courier services, furniture, material and equipment moves which includes, but not limited to: |

|deliveries of a wide variety of supplies, equipment, material, mail and other items. as well as some aspects of fleet management. |

|MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES |

| |

| |

|May participate in Manager On-Call rotation for 1st shift, weekend and holidays emergency call in of appropriate staff. |

| |

|A wide variety of internal and external interactions are required within UW Health, to include but not limited to: University Hospital, ambulatory clinics and business |

|locations at all levels. Must maintain excellent relationships and communications with all customers of Facility and Engineering Services Transportation services. |

| |

|Involves the general supervision, direction, interaction, planning and scheduling of work assignments for Transportation employees, to ensure adequate coverage (24/7, |

|365 days) of all Transportation functions. Additionally, supplies coordination of Snow Emergency vehicle and staffing needs. |

| |

|Maintains a limited fleet of vehicles for UW Health use outside of the department. |

| |

|Assembles schedules to assure adequate staffing meets daily needs, including weekends and holidays. Establish and publish scheduled routes for the movement of requested|

|and routine deliveries, as required to fulfill the needs of UW Health locations. |

| |

|Prioritize and distribute Transportation service requests to staff. |

| |

|Arrange disposal of excess equipment, per departmental and UW Health Policies and guidelines. |

| |

|Inspect all vehicles and ensure a high level of cleanliness is maintained by the Drivers. |

| |

|Provide required documentation to Manager Transportation & Fleet Operations, as requested. |

| |

|Maintains employee performance reviews. |

| |

|Investigate and implement training programs for staff. Conduct or arrange training courses and review their effectiveness. |

| |

|Interact with Safety & Human Resource departments to ensure mandatory training requirements are met. |

| |

|Drive Transportation vehicles to provide back-up for Transportation staff, as needed. |

| |

|Provide guidance, when needed, to assure accurate, up-to-date timekeeping and work order documentation. |

| |

|Approve time cards through the appropriate system. |

| |

|Conduct interviews for and recommend hiring of new staff. |

| |

|Assist with other projects, as assigned by the Manager Transportation & Fleet Operations. |

| |

|JOB REQUIREMENTS |

|Education |Minimum |High School Diploma or equivalent |

|Work Experience |Minimum |Three years progressively responsible experience in supervision; including one year of driver or |

| | |transportation experience. |

| |Preferred |Five years of supervisory experience working within a transportation environment. |

|Licenses & Certifications |Minimum |Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License |

| |Preferred |Valid CDL License |

|Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities |Must be 21 years of age to drive a UW Health Fleet vehicle. |

| |Ability to be insured by Hospital’s risk management insurer which requires (1) a valid Wisconsin Driver’s |

| |License and (2) successfully passing a driving background check. |

| |Knowledge of information systems and various computer software programs, such as: database, word processing, |

| |spreadsheet, email, calendar and project management. Experience with Microsoft Office programs. |

| |Proficient written and verbal communications skills. |

| |Strong customer service skills. |
