What I expect this movie to be like:

AFTER viewing the movie:

State your opinion of the movie in one sentence. Be specific. Don’t say “This

movie was funny.” Do say “This movie works because the actor made his

situation more hilarious by bungling every chance he had to set thing right.”

For my opening, I’m going to:

__________ use a line from the movie

__________ tell about the actor’s reputation in movies & compare it to how

he or she did in the movie I watched

__________ compare this movie to others I’ve seen from the same genre

___________ tell whether it met my expectation that I stated above

My opinion statement and supporting details: ________________________________________________________________

Next, describe the basic plot of the movie, and tell how the story builds, but don't give away the ending! Remember to keep it brief. My summary of my movie:

Now it’s time to get specific about your opinion of the movie. Don’t say “It was boring.” Do say “There were too many action scenes and not enough explanation of why all these things were happening so I found myself growing numb to all the explosions and car chases to the point that I no longer cared about what happened to the characters.” Things I will say to back up my opinion of the movie:

Make the review engaging. Use metaphors and analogy to draw comparisons, use descriptive words to create the images you're telling about. But also be concise. What I will use to make my review interesting:

_______ Use metaphors and/or similes; analogy.

_______ Use descriptive words. (Remember to use a thesaurus!)

Other things to consider telling about:

Music – did it add/detract from the movie? How?

Cinematography – did it make the movie come to life for you?

Special effects – were they good? Why/Why not?

Lighting – did it create the right mood for the movie?

Consider the type of movie you viewed. Was it a comedy? A horror film? A romance? If so, the standard for a comedy would be that it was funny. A horror film should be scary. A romance should make you understand how much the characters cared for each other. The standard that I will use to make my review honest is:

FILM REVIEW

'The Net' Makes Us Feel Our Future is Threatened

by Akiko Nakano

Are you thinking of committing a computer crime? If you are, you should watch the movie "The Net" first because hacking can be very dangerous and give our society fear or tragedy. You should consider this before you commit your crime?

In the beginning of the movie "The Net", Angela, who is a beta tester, is at home in front of a computer, but when she presses "Enter" the screen goes crazy, tossing up pages of confidential government files.

From here things start happening. When she went to Mexico on a vacation, she met one guy. Angela came back from vacation, but her identity had been switched with that of a criminal. From this time, she is chased by the police. In spite of the bad situation, she tried to get her true identity and facts back.

Sandra Bullock's acting made the movie thrilling and attractive to us. She had various expressions in the movie, so she did a good job in her role as Angela.

The idea of "The Net" is that anybody can lose his/her own identity in the computer. This movie conveyed the fear of hacking to us. I also thought people could be in danger from hacking into computers. However, today computers are pervasive all over the world. I worry about whether computer crimes will increase or not.
