Exporting Data

This is a CRITICAL STEP of the installation process.

These instructions are based on the software being installed in the following directory or folder: C:\Program Files\Computrition\Hospitality Suite. If your software is loaded in a different location, please make the necessary adjustments.

Before you begin - You must plan for the appropriate available disk space (depending on the size of your data, and number of data sets).

Log all users out of the system.

1. Close all open windows.

2. Before exporting the data, you will need to have a folder where the file will be exported. If you do not already have a folder designated for this purpose, please follow these steps.

a. Double-click My Computer>C:>Program Files. b. Click File>New>Folder. c. Type CiDataExport.

Remember that this folder is the directory where the data will be saved. You will need to access this folder in step 8.

3. Click Start>Programs>Computrition>Hospitality Suite>Hospitality Suite Administration.

4. Enter your username (Company Schema), password, and host in the dialog box and click OK.

5. After the Utility has started, a screen will appear. Click the Data tab.

6. Click the Export button.

7. Click the Browse button to select the folder to export the data into. Remember the CiDataExport folder you created in step 3? To navigate to that folder, double-click C:>Program Files>CiDataExport. Click OK.

8. C:\Program Files\CiDataExport will appear in the Export Folder field. If it does not, repeat step 8. When you are ready to export the data, click the Start Export button. The system may appear frozen, but the Oracle database is working. Do not use the computer while this process is running.

9. When the process is complete, the utility will display a message that you have successfully created an export. The file will have a .NEW extension.

10. Click Done. Close all open windows.

11. Repeat the process for each additional Company Schema.
