Slide notes

With this feature, you can create user-defined Job Sets to automate a sequence of planning processes such as collections, batch run plan, or release plan.

You can submit the user-defined Job Sets from scheduled processes. You can also setup schedules and notifications for user-defined Job Sets in a scheduled processes with planning processes.

This feature applies to Supply Planning, Demand Planning, Demand and Supply Planning, Sales and Operations Planning, Replenishment Planning, Global Order Promising, and Backlog Management.

Slide 6 - Sequence Planning Processes Using Job Sets

[pic]

Slide notes

This feature enables global organizations in different time zones to schedule planning processes sequentially. This helps the organization to compress the execution window of planning processes.

This feature also allows companies to define user-defined Job Sets for Planning Processes based on their business for execution of planning cycles.

It improves the planning processes execution efficiency by allowing you to schedule the planning processes.

Enabling planning processes to schedules and notifications provides enhanced feedback on the status of the processes and job sets, which allows you to take any necessary actions on the outcome of the process execution.

Companies using Supply Chain Planning processes can sequence their planning processes as steps in a Job Set, which allows greater flexibility in managing planning process execution and automating the process.

Scheduling of planning processes like “collection job set” or “batch run plan” allows you to only automate the respective planning process. However, the dependent execution flow cannot be established by scheduling the planning processed individually. Scheduling planning processes as a job set will improve the reliability, by ensuring the dependent processes are executed in a specific sequence to provide the required results.

Slide 97 - Additional Information for Sequence Planning Processes Using Job Sets

Slide notes

Here is some additional information you should know about this feature. You can submit planning processes such as Collection Job Set, Batch Run Plan, Release Plan as scheduled processes, and specify parameters for planning processes like Collection Job Set, Batch Run Plan, Release Plan from scheduled processes.

You can associate scheduling options for planning processes for a scheduled cyclic submission

You can add planning processes like Collection Job Set, Batch Run Plan, and Release Plan in a scheduled process Job Set for either a serial or parallel sequence of execution and submit planning processes in a job set with its parameters. You can also associate scheduling options for job sets with planning processes for scheduled cyclic submission and enable notifications for planning processes such as Collection Job Set, Batch Run Plan, and Release Plan from scheduled processes.

Slide notes

Here are some more additional details about Collection Job Set scheduled process.

The Collection Job Set has two steps: Extract Master and Load Master. Extract Master and Load Master have the same input parameters. The parameters are source system, collection type, and collection template.

The parameters chosen for Extract Master are defaulted in for Load Master.

The collection template contains selection filters, organizations, reference data, demand planning data, and supply planning data which are used during data collections. And create collection templates in the task “Collect Planning Data in Plan Inputs”

The Load Planning Data from Flat Files scheduled process collects data from an external source similar to the execution of the task Load Planning Data from Files in Plan Inputs and other work areas. To schedule the load of planning input data from flat files, query the Job, “Load Planning Data from Flat Files,” in the “Scheduled Processes” New Process window.

Load Planning Data from Flat Files scheduled process spawns the Collection Job Set as a subsequent job to collect data from an external source.

In addition, Load Planning Data from Flat Files scheduled process status completion has been enhanced to follow completion status of the spawned Collection Job Set. Load Planning Data from Flat Files scheduled process status will now be updated to succeed or display a warning or error based on the completion time and status of its spawned Collection Job Set scheduled process.

Slide notes

The Planning Process Job Name has a display name and internal "Job Definition" or "Job Set" name. The internal name normally differs from display names, as the internal name should not contain any spaces as compared to display name of a planning processes.

The scheduled process Job Set framework requires the internal "Job Definition" or "Job Set" to be specified while adding planning processes as sequence steps.

The internal job definition or job set name of a planning process has to be provided in “Add Step” or “Edit Step” while configuring a job set.

For planning the scheduled process “Collection Job Set,” select “Job Set” to add it as a sequence step in a user defined Job Set by providing the name as “CollectionJobSet."

For scheduled process “Load Planning Data from Flat Files," select “Job Definition” to add as a sequence step in a Job Set by providing name as “CSVController."

Slide notes

Here are some important rules to remember. Job Set step names cannot contain spaces or periods. Job Set Name cannot contain spaces.

Select each sequence step in the Job Set in Scheduled Processes to enter parameters.

Job Sets submission notes are scheduled processes framework dependent, and not specific for any Supply Chain Planning work areas.

Collection Job Set, Load Planning Data from Flat Files and Create Trees for Dimension are Job Sets. The scheduled process framework allows monitoring the completion status of a Job or a Job set within itself, and among its child processes.

Create Trees for Dimension is spawned for building hierarchy and associating level members for reference data items like Items, Organizations. Collection Job Set and Load Planning Data from Flat Files spawns Create Trees for Dimensions while collecting reference data like Items, Organizations.

However completion time Collection Job Set or Load Planning Data from Flat Files is not dependent on completion time of Create Trees for Dimension job set.

For Job Sets where reference data collection is included, it’s recommended to include an intermediary step with “Create Trees for Dimension” in a net change mode. This ensures that the subsequent Batch Run Plan, which is dependent on a collection process where reference data changes are included, is executed only after the relevant hierarchies are built, or changes in member-level associations are updated.

Resubmit will display parameters as argument IDs in scheduled processes.
