Marshfield Sun Printing Museum, Coos Bay The Marshfield Sun Printing Museum

is a historic newspaper and job printing shop on the National Register of Historic Places. It features the original equipment of The Sun newspaper (1891-1944) and exhibits on printing and local history.

Oregon Coast Historical Railway, Coos Bay This outdoor museum features railroad and logging equipment, railroad memorabilia, and its signature pieces - a restored 1922 Baldwin steam locomotive and the Snug Harbor Miniature steam train.

Simpson Park, North Bend Named for North Bend's founder, Simpson Park is home to Oregon's Merci Train Box Car. The Forty and Eight rail car was given to the U.S. in appreciation by the French following World War II. The park also features a covered picnic area, playground and restrooms.

The name Coos Bay is derived from one of the area's Native American tribes and has two Indian meanings ? lake, and place of pines ? both very fitting for this area.
