Jeff and Cindy Moore present a garden which was built by hand three years ago with a lot of hard work and time. They have begun to fill it and have enjoyed watching everything grow and develop. The garden wraps around the house and includes a variety of colorful plants and flowers which features a large flowering magnolia tree in the side yard. Please take some time to stop and smell the flowers in the garden!

Between William and Clinton sits Julie and Dan Curtis’ residentially owned business Two Chicks and A Rooster. On their one acre piece of paradise you will find why they love to vacation in the yard! Fourteen years of self-created and maintained landscape with creative design and pieces added every year - some they make, some they recycle. They find new homes for old stuff and believe something can be planted in just about anything. The gift shop is open and you’ll get to see the Rooster’s Workshop! The Shafers welcome you to their gardens bright with color on this small circa 1837 village lot. The garden features a variety of annuals and perennials so there is color throughout the spring and summer months. A small pond bordered by a rock garden is a feature in the back yard. Brian & Sharon Dadswell welcome all to a small village lot with no lawn, all garden, mixed with mostly perennials. It features a small koi pond, with waterfalls and a creative birdbath. They have over 50 different varieties of plants – many were grown from seed or from cuttings. Not one - but two pergolas complete the garden. FSB 1, 4, 5, 10

The Lancaster Public Library offers a front display filled with hostas, daylilies, geraniums, dianthus and snapdragons. The side garden features bleeding hearts and ornamental grasses. Continuing to the back visitors will be greeted with a shade garden, coneflower, hosta, daylilies, Russian sage and sunflowers. FSB 2

Welcome to the Stansberry-Yedinak’s gardens! Their gardens are a work in progress. They have a large village lot with two gazebos and lots of shade plants. The back garden is new with a mix of perennials including butterfly bushes and torch lilies. They have implemented many visitors’ suggestions from previous years – so come see how your advice has blossomed!

Several WNY Artists creating sculpture, weaving, painted “garden” furniture, and painted windows will be featuring artwork. These artists include Marleta Maria Stansberry, Paulette Krakowski, Andre Oswald, Janet Vedder, Tracy Neubauer and more. Their work is currently being displayed at Enjoy the Journey Art Gallery on Orchard Park Road in West Seneca. The artwork has also been featured in several venues and regional galleries including Impact Art Gallery, Carnegie Art Center and the Roycroft Inn. FSB 2, 6, A

This property is two acres of raised beds, fruit trees, fountain, wooded area and walkways. Hundreds of hostas, with roses, daylilies, rhododendron, and wildflowers are some of what’s in store for visitors to this wonderful garden.

Joseph Heary has been an attendee of the Lancaster Garden Walk many times and asked if he could enter his garden into the 2013 Garden Walk. To me, Joe represents part of what garden walks are all about – working hard to create a wonderful garden and wanting and willing to show others his creation. It may be “down the road” (Broadway) a bit, but it is well worth a visit. Newcomers Paul and Ellen Lista invite you to visit their home which was built in 1850 with a small three level addition built in 1910. The property is listed in the New York State Historic Registry. The property is at the end of the historic district.

The landscape is very simple, yet pleasing to look at. The corner of the front lot has red roses planted. Interspersed with red roses are planted are other flowering plants and ivy to beautify this corner. The side yard has simple, yet elegant landscape ideas that complement the building so as to not overpower it. This area has evergreens, climbing plants against trellises and one ground level window that is outlined with container plants. The alleyway and courtyard is fenced in with ornamental grasses, ferns and ivy with several hanging baskets of flowers. FSB 2, 4, 5, 11

Sue and Sam Puma invite you to a garden creation filled with hostas, ornamental grasses, lilacs and daylilies. These are just a few of the perennials making this garden quite a retreat. Hydrangeas and rose of sharon bushes are nestled in with fragrant herb plants. New waterfall chains hydrate the plants by using rainwater from the eaves leaving them time to just sit, relax and enjoy the summer.

Donna Micheal will show you Art prints made by the students at CHC Learning Center. Students have multiple disabilities and are non verbal. They use communication devices to select their art choices, colors and items to paint with. All sales of artwork provide field trips to students. Jenny and Scott Friedman’s yard is a ½ acre town lot that was a bare rectangle filled with grass ten years ago. Now you can wander down garden paths, cross the stone bridge by the waterfall or sit in their gazebo and relax. They have thousands of bulbs, shrubs, roses and perennials and over 100 containers and hanging baskets filled with annuals. They also have three water features. Circle the house – they have gardens on all sides!

In this garden, artist Pam Kreuzer will display rock paintings and garden stones. She has a passion for these since 2009. Debbie and Cliff Hageman welcome you to their garden. Their whole yard is an English Cottage garden in the village. They have many different types of perennials in many colors. Their yard blooms from April to October. They have six fountains where you can see a bird bathing everyday. There is a pergola, three arbors and an English bench. All their borders are outlined with red bricks. At night the yard is well lit with different decorative and colorful lights. If you like flowers, their garden should be on your list to see. Rich and Lucy Groblewski welcome you to their very small garden retreat. This narrow lot displays unique plantings and art along a backyard garden path leading one to a stone bridge that you must cross to view a secret Asian garden hideaway in “Roji Niwa” (tea garden), “Hill and Pond” Japanese style. Included are a great deal of Japanese and Asian cultural influences that “take you to another part of the world”, if only for a while – a peaceful experience for all who enter. This is one of the gardens featured in the “Old Home Days” event in 2013 and is also part of the National Buffalo Garden Festival Open Garden series. Enjoy!

This year, artists Leah Mute and Christa Carr from Lancaster Art Academy will be featured on Saturday and Theresa Roberts, will present her artwork on Sunday in this garden. She has painted Chinese Brush paintings for many years. Her love of nature is expressed in her depictions of birds, flowers and you might even find a dragon. Returning from Lancaster Garden Walk 2010, this garden hosts hundreds of perennials, but little is known about the mystery behind the rock structures that have been in place since the early 1900’s. It is believed that the rocks were shipped by train from the Adirondack Mountains. What inspired the castle, waterfall and labyrinth-style garden is unknown. Hidden for generations, this garden is a must-see! S 1, 3, 5

Newcomers’ Mark and Patti Dean welcome you to a yard which has a variety of garden spots. In the front yard they have a mix of colorful annuals and perennials with a variety of trees and garden art mixed in. Once you head to the side yard via a slate pathway to the left of the house, you will be greeted by several varieties of bushes, trees and flowers as well as a view of the beautiful Lorall Lake and their sandy beach (some know it as Willow Beach). Be sure to look around as you walk and you may see some miniature gardens, fairy gardens and plenty of nearly hidden garden art among the tall ornamental grasses! The path will lead you to a beautiful cascading waterfall spilling into a very large 3.5 ft. deep fish pond which is filled with numerous large koi as well as water lilies, lotus and other water plants. Five years in the making of thoughtfully placed flowers and trees, you can stroll through the stone path as the perennial garden connects to a competing neighbor, also known as “loving sister”. The Fullers enjoy patio shade, playground fun, herbs to spice things up and bird watching in their spare time. FSB 1,5,7,8

Newcomers Micky & Jacqueline invite you to their home located across the street from the Lancaster High School bus garage.

They have many areas throughout their home to include the “Upper” front, front, back, “way” back and side. If you are a gardener, you know it is always a work in progress. Most recently, they have put in a small pond and are adding trees native to the area including river birch, willows and a Dawn Redwood to name a few. Bird houses and feeders liven up the space and bring feathered friends with colors all their own.

Karen and Bob Deutschlander welcome you to an eclectic suburban ranch with a front landscape of flowers and pots. Follow the stamped concrete around the side and enjoy the miniature village. Step onto the patio for an overview of the entire garden, with the land-locked woods that are filled with perennials, annuals, baskets and more miniature gardens. Enjoy the theme garden that changes every year, along with your chance to make a hole-in-one on the “golf course”. We have lots of “garden art” throughout the yard, including Karen’s secret garden. They love their home and yard and welcome all to come and enjoy it with them!

Conrad Borucki will be the featured Artist in this garden. He is a realistic Acrylic Artist stressing the importance of lights and darks. Being an avid gardener himself, nature is emphasized in his work. He is a member of several Art Societies and has won numerous awards. His work is featured in 2 books highlighting Alden and Lancaster architecture.

A newcomer to the Lancaster Garden Walk, Kathy Santora welcomes everyone to a front yard with a 30 foot fence that has several brand new perennials such as silver mounds, butterfly bushes, hostas and hydrangea. Annuals are mixed in for color.

The side yard has button daisies, grasses and annuals.

In the backyard, you will see a small waterfall under a Japanese maple tree with annuals and perennials. There is a gazebo with a water feature and more perennials and annuals. In the large pond, see a large water fountain and many pots of wave petunias. FSB 1, 4, 5

Chip and Kathy Blenk request that you all come and visit their garden. There are sun and shade areas. They live in a development that surrounds a pond. You may see the snapping turtles, muskrats, beaver and blue heron. Several types of birds visit their feeders. The garden has hostas both large and miniature. There are geum, daylilies, echinacea, crocosmia, lucifer, astilbe, rogersia, spiderwort and more. A small pond with fantail gold fish is surrounded by a garden in the back. Enjoy their deck filled with flowers in a variety of containers.

Chip Blenk will display his own artwork of Abstract Acrylic Art. Strong colors and heavy texture are the mainstay of Chip's art. Al and Nancy Franjoine offer a property that is 150’x150’ with six flower beds that total 180 feet! Each flower bed has a stone border. Come and see a spectacular display of tropical hibiscus trees in red, pink and yellow. There are some forty specimens on display! If perennial hibiscuses are your thing, check out the numerous varieties of those that number 200! Perennial bulbs, hollyhocks and daylilies are surrounded by stone borders. All this and an in ground pool as well.

New this year are red rose bushes added as a tribute to the village’s official flower, the red rose. The village gardens are planted & maintained by the Lancaster Garden Club.
